Inclusive diffraction
Results are given on the measurements of the hard diffractive interactions at
HERA collider. The structure of the diffractive exchange in terms of
partons and the factorisation properties are discussed, in particular by
comparing the QCD predictions for dijets and with measurements both in
the photo and electroproduction regimes.Comment: Contribution to the Proceedings of the Ringberg Workshop ``New Trends

Open Design, Inclusivity and the Intersections of Making
This paper presents insights from an ethnographic study with a diverse population of makers in the city of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. By engaging individuals, groups and communities who 'make' in different contexts, we reveal under-explored perspectives on 'making' and highlight points of intersection between different kinds of making across the city. We reflect on the dynamics of these intersections and connect our observations to emerging discourses around 'open design'. In doing so, we argue for a renewed focus on 'inclusivity' and highlight a need for new infrastructure to support iterative, collaborative making within -- and across -- interconnected networks of makers
Azimuthal and single spin asymmetry in deep-inelastic lepton-nucleon scattering
We derive a general framework for describing semi-inclusive deep-inelastic
lepton-nucleon scattering in terms of the unintegrated parton distributions and
other higher twist parton correlations. Such a framework provides a consistent
approach to the calculation of inclusive and semi-inclusive cross sections
including higher twist effects. As an example, we calculate the azimuthal
asymmetries to the order of 1/Q in semi-inclusive process with transversely
polarized target. A non-vanishing single-spin asymmetry in the ``triggered
inclusive process'' is predicted to be 1/Q suppressed with a part of the
coefficient related to a moment of the Sivers function.Comment: 9 pages, 1 figur
Bridging the Gap Between Inclusive Policy and Inclusive Culture in Secondary Schools
Organisational support from a number of levels needs to be in place if schools are going to achieve success in developing an inclusive school culture. Support at policy level is frequently in place, however the gap between policy and practice is a continuing challenge. In this in-depth study of a secondary school Suzanne Carrington and John Elkins offer insights into the culture of an inclusive school and the processes of translating inclusive policy to inclusive practice
Designers and manufacturers’ perspectives on inclusive/universal design
Inclusive design in the U.K. and its U.S. counterpart, universal design, present opportunities and challenges to industry. In order to encourage manufacturers and design companies to adopt more inclusive design practices, the research has been carried out to gain an understanding of why and how companies adopt inclusive design practices, what are the barriers when implementing them and what are the key strategies for facilitating inclusive/universal design in an industrial context.
Based on interviews with a number of U.K. design consultancies and an investigation among manufacturers in the U.S., a comparison between U.K. consultant designers and U.S. consumer product manufacturers’ perspectives on inclusive/universal design was made. It was found that designers are reluctant to sacrifice the aesthetics of the brand to design for inclusion, but nevertheless would like to have practical tools to help them develop more inclusive solutions. For manufacturers, the key motivation for such practices is that of government regulation and legislation requiring the accessibility of products and services
