H Space: Interactive Augmented Reality Art

    Get PDF
open accessThis artwork exploits recent research into augmented reality systems, such as the HoloLens, for building creative interaction in augmented reality. The work is being conducted in the context of interactive art experiences. The first version of the audience experience of the artwork, “H Space”, was informally tested in the SIGGRAPH 2018 Art Gallery context. Experiences with a later, improved, version was evaluated at Tsinghua University. The latest distributed version will be shown in Sydney. The paper describes the concept, the background in both the art and the technological domain and points to some of the key computer human interaction art research issues that the work highlights

Solving Poisson's Equation on the Microsoft HoloLens

    Get PDF
We present a mixed reality application (HoloFEM) for the Microsoft HoloLens. The application lets a user define and solve a physical problem governed by Poisson's equation with the surrounding real world geometry as input data. Holograms are used to visualise both the problem and the solution. The finite element method is used to solve Poisson's equation. Solving and visualising partial differential equations in mixed reality could have potential usage in areas such as building planning and safety engineering.Comment: 2 pages, 9 figure

B.O.G.G.L.E.S.: Boundary Optical GeoGraphic Lidar Environment System

The purpose of this paper is to describe a pseudo X-ray vision system that pairs a Lidar scanner with a visualization device. The system as a whole is referred to as B.O.G.G.L.E.S. There are several key factors that went into the development of this system and the background information and design approach are thoroughly described. B.O.G.G.L.E.S functionality is depicted through the use of design constraints and the analysis of test results. Additionally, many possible developments for B.O.G.G.L.E.S are proposed in the paper. This indicates that there are various avenues of improvement for this project that could be implemented in the future
