Hashing Based Software Watermarking for Source Code Files

    Get PDF
Software is developed and delivered to clients as a routine part of software engineering life cycle . Software is quite an expensive entity. However various attacks are possible on software to make its illegal use. Different solutions are there to prevent piracy. Software watermarking embeds a watermark in the source code so that it is undetectable yet it proves the ownership of the developer. The technique has been tested for C++ source code files, however, it can be applicable on any other language. The proposed techniques scans the code for all possible constants, forms a hash sequence using MD5 algorithm that calculates the watermark and stores in Date & Watermark Value Repository (DWVR)

Distortion-Free Watermarking Approach for Relational Database Integrity Checking

Nowadays, internet is becoming a suitable way of accessing the databases. Such data are exposed to various types of attack with the aim to confuse the ownership proofing or the content protection. In this paper, we propose a new approach based on fragile zero watermarking for the authentication of numeric relational data. Contrary to some previous databases watermarking techniques which cause some distortions in the original database and may not preserve the data usability constraints, our approach simply seeks to generate the watermark from the original database. First, the adopted method partitions the database relation into independent square matrix groups. Then, group-based watermarks are securely generated and registered in a trusted third party. The integrity verification is performed by computing the determinant and the diagonal’s minor for each group. As a result, tampering can be localized up to attribute group level. Theoretical and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed technique is resilient against tuples insertion, tuples deletion, and attributes values modification attacks. Furthermore, comparison with recent related effort shows that our scheme performs better in detecting multifaceted attacks

Watchword-Oriented and Time-Stamped Algorithms for Tamper-Proof Cloud Provenance Cognition

Provenance is derivative journal information about the origin and activities of system data and processes. For a highly dynamic system like the cloud, provenance can be accurately detected and securely used in cloud digital forensic investigation activities. This paper proposes watchword oriented provenance cognition algorithm for the cloud environment. Additionally time-stamp based buffer verifying algorithm is proposed for securing the access to the detected cloud provenance. Performance analysis of the novel algorithms proposed here yields a desirable detection rate of 89.33% and miss rate of 8.66%. The securing algorithm successfully rejects 64% of malicious requests, yielding a cumulative frequency of 21.43 for MR

    Tamper Detection in Color Image

In this work a fragile watermarking scheme is presented. This scheme is applied to digital color images in spatial domain. The image is divided into blocks, and each block has its authentication mark embedded in it, we would be able to insure which parts of the image are authentic and which parts have been modified. This authentication carries out without need to exist the original image. The results show the quality of the watermarked image is remaining very good and the watermark survived some type of unintended modification such as familiar compression software like WINRAR and ZI
