Development of a novel fault management in distribution system using distribution automation system in conjunction with GSM communication

    Get PDF
The paper develops and implement a novel fault management in distribution automation systems (DAS) at low voltage to enhance reliability of power for the consumers. The proposed fault management system is design based on GSM (global system for mobile) communication. The system has been equipped with current sensor as field data interface devices, microcontroller as remote terminal unit, GSM as communication network, computer as master terminal unit and visual basic as human interface (HMI) software. A fault management strategy is also designed to find out the fault location effectively without human intervention after a fault occurred. The laboratory results are compared with the simulation results to make the final conclusion on the functionality of the algorithm

Wireless communication, identification and sensing technologies enabling integrated logistics: a study in the harbor environment

    Get PDF
In the last decade, integrated logistics has become an important challenge in the development of wireless communication, identification and sensing technology, due to the growing complexity of logistics processes and the increasing demand for adapting systems to new requirements. The advancement of wireless technology provides a wide range of options for the maritime container terminals. Electronic devices employed in container terminals reduce the manual effort, facilitating timely information flow and enhancing control and quality of service and decision made. In this paper, we examine the technology that can be used to support integration in harbor's logistics. In the literature, most systems have been developed to address specific needs of particular harbors, but a systematic study is missing. The purpose is to provide an overview to the reader about which technology of integrated logistics can be implemented and what remains to be addressed in the future

The Effect Of Customer Satisfaction, Customer Trust On Custromer Loyalty Of The Card Users Of PT. Indosat Tbk

The research was conducted on Indosat GSM cellular card customers residing in the city of Bandung. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an effect of customer satisfaction and customer trust on customer loyalty in the PT. Indosat Tbk, and how much the level of customer loyalty after using the service provider Indosat. This research was conducted with statistical and descriptive methods. It is intended that the study can obtain accurate results, so the results can be trusted. Population is both the card users of Indosat for at least 6 months and those who had used the service provider Indosat. The samples were 113 respondents. The method used was the accidental sampling. The process and analytical method employed a path analysis to test hypotheses about the effect of customer satisfaction and customer trust on customer loyalty. Questionnaire instruments were developed and were processed by using a computer-assisted program SPSS 14.0 for windows and Amos 5.0. The results showed that the best model is a Theoretical Model 2. In model 2 customer trust was described as an antecedent to affect customer loyalty as compared with a Theoretical Model 1 with customer satisfaction as an antecedent. The model shows a significant relationship of trust with satisfaction and customer loyalty. Key words: Satisfaction, Trust and Customer Loyalty

AN AUTOMATED ENERGY METER READING SYSTEM USING GSM TECHNOLOGY

The measurement of the energy consumed by residential and commercial buildings by utility provider is important in billing, control and monitoring of the usage of energy. Traditional metering techniques used for the measurement of energy are not convenient and is prone to different forms of irregularities. These irregularities include inaccuracies in billing due to human error, energy theft, loss of revenue due to corruption and so on. This research study proposed the design and construction of a microcontroller based electric energy metering system using the Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) network. This system provides solution to the irregularities posed by the traditional metering technique by allowing the utility provider have access to remote monitoring capabilities, full control over consumer load, and remote power disconnection in the case of energy theft. Proteus simulation software was used to model the system hardware and the software was obtained by using embedded C programming and visual basic. It was observed that the system could remotely take accurate energy readings, provided full control over consumer loads and execute remote disconnection in case of energy theft. The system provides high performance and high accuracy in power monitoring and power management. Keywords: GSM, Automati
