The Role of Smart Personal Assistant for improving personal Healthcare

Machine learning is a subfield of computer science that evolved from the study of pattern recognition and computational learning theory in artificial intelligence. The focus of this paper is to improve personal healthcare using smart personal assistant which make use of the combination of machine learning and cloud. Making a doctor appointment through phone call is a tedious process and it may take more time. People who did not made the prior appointment have to wait on the queue which sometimes leads to dissatisfactions to the patients. To overcome this gap, smart personal assistant application is proposed using which users can get appointment of various doctors according to the current availability and at anytime and anywhere. This will improve time saving from patients' side as well as they will be satisfied by timely service

Flight Attitude and Acceleration Data Recorder

    Get PDF
This document outlines the design and implementation of a low-cost, low-power acceleration data recorder for utility category gliders. Working from literature and experience, we have built a recorder that can accurately measure the forces and angle experienced by a glider in flight. The recorder is able to record and display acceleration force and angular rates of turn as well as display and analyze post-flight data utilizing software created for a personal digital assistant and personal computer

The Role of Personal Innovativeness and Self-Efficacy in Information Technology Acceptance: An Extension of TAM with Notions of Risk

    Get PDF
Several research efforts over the last decade have attempted to augment the basic technology acceptance model (TAM) by identifying and testing determinants of the two key predictor beliefs of the modeloĢperceived usefulness and perceived ease of useoĢand by identifying other extraneous variables that moderate various model relationships. This research is an attempt in the same direction. It addresses some key gaps and inconsistent findings in the TAM literature to further contribute to the refinement of TAM. In this endeavor, this research draws from social cognitive theory (SCT), computer self-efficacy (CSE), technology acceptance model (TAM), and the risk management literature to develop an extended TAM that includes new relationships between the model constructs and personal innovativeness and general and specific computer self-efficacy. The research will be conducted as a survey in the context of the personal digital assistant (PDA) technology

Information Agents for Pervasive Sensor Networks

    No full text
In this paper, we describe an information agent, that resides on a mobile computer or personal digital assistant (PDA), that can autonomously acquire sensor readings from pervasive sensor networks (deciding when and which sensor to acquire readings from at any time). Moreover, it can perform a range of information processing tasks including modelling the accuracy of the sensor readings, predicting the value of missing sensor readings, and predicting how the monitored environmental parameters will evolve into the future. Our motivating scenario is the need to provide situational awareness support to first responders at the scene of a large scale incident, and we describe how we use an iterative formulation of a multi-output Gaussian process to build a probabilistic model of the environmental parameters being measured by local sensors, and the correlations and delays that exist between them. We validate our approach using data collected from a network of weather sensors located on the south coast of England

Implementasi Sistem Active Directory Untuk Kemudahan Administrasi Laboratorium ā€“ Laboratorium Program Studi Teknik Informatika Universitas Kristen Petra

The presence of computer laboratory is really helpful in terms of supporting the learning process in the college scope. But the user of the computer itself tend to irresponsibly making change(s) the computer\u27s configuration. The configuration made by the laboratory\u27s assistant itself can sometimes be wrong, making the fix to the configuration itself has to be made on each of the computer. The use of Active Directory can be spread easily via server. The limitations of a user group applied based on its own functions. The users itself get their personal space for storing their data in the server, in which if one user uses another computer in the lab, he / she still can access his / her data. Administration also centered on the server thatfacilitate lab\u27s assistants on helping their task. The re-installation of the computer\u27s operating system is made easy by using the remote install hosted by server. The result from the USAge of Active Directory system is that it will help the administration tasks done by the lab\u27s assistants, especially on the limitations that should be applied to the groups of users. Personal storage space in the server also helps the students on the availability of their data, regardless where or which computer they are using

User Acceptance of Information Technology: Inside the American Home

It is indeed appropriate to begin this abstract with a quote from the call for papers for ICIS 1996: ā€œThere is great debate on how the forthcoming digital revolution will change the nature of. . .home life and society. Some predict that. . .homes will no longer need to be located near centers of commerce.ā€ While interesting, this prediction cannot come to pass if information technologies (IT) are not adopted in homes. ā€œMany people remain detached from information technology and its benefitsā€ (Machrone 1994, p. 87) as evidenced by the fact that only 12% of households had a personal computer (PC) with a modem in 1994 (PC World, 1994). Another indication of the apprehensions and uncertainties about adopting technology for personal use is the lack of acceptance of the Apple Newton, a personal digital assistant (Mossberg 1993). This new and innovative informationtechnologyfailedtoreceiveuseracceptanceasexpected. Thisexamplesuggeststhatconsumersarenotenamored with technology simply for the sake of technology. Thus, user acceptance, adoption, and use continue to be issues that deserve attention, particularly in this ever-expanding context that extends from the workplace into our homes

    Personal Virtual Assistant

    Get PDF
The Personal Virtual Assistant (PVA) is an innovative, inexpensive, and reliable virtual secretary. This user-friendly system will perform many of the tasks commonly performed by a traditional secretary. The PVA will eradicate such problems and it will be easy to train by updating the software. The foundation for this project has come from research previously conducted in computer vision. Advanced features of the PVA will include the ability to identify humans. Some of the problems associated with working with humans can range from forgetting to write an appointment to missing work on a regular basis. The PVA project will expand upon computer vision research and incorporate new features which will lead to an interactive virtual assistant. The system will offer communication and other solutions to users. This system can be implemented in various fields. For example, in education, it can be used to organize and ease student appointments with deans or chairs. In business, offices can use it in instead of a regular secretary. This assistant will never forget about the meeting and will never be tired. Those are only the basic features of the PVA. At the long term a global network of PVAā€™s can be created allowing them to communicate between each other without need for appearance in person

New Wave Computer Technology and the Administration of Speech Communication Performance Courses

    Get PDF
The article talks about the continued interest of the speech communication field in technology-supported instruction. Earlier detailed descriptions of teaching/learning laboratories in speech communication are based upon older computer-assisted instruction models and such laboratories were financially out of reach for most small-to-average sized departments. Recent, dramatic enhancements of the memories and processing speeds of microcomputers has made them ideal for recording, editing, and replaying sound supported motion picture clips of speech presentations. Clearly, evaluating student performance and providing substantial and prompt instructional feedback can easily be accommodated by the course web site. Aside from the interactive testing and automated grading features described above, computer-assisted grading and evaluation of speaking performances are supported by specialized forms software and the personal data assistant or PDA connected to a server
