Career Construction and Work Inclusion of People with Disabilities: Goal Setting
Today, the quality of human capital and active involvement of the disadvantaged people into socioeconomic and political life are the main challenges for the Russian Federation as it is going through another round of modernization. Despite the government allowances, the disadvantaged groups have no motivation to improve their human capital assets and to construct own career. In the paper, we propose the project that aims at impacting the wellbeing of the disadvantaged social groups. We will study the traditional and emerging structural forms of inequality in the context of complicated social reality and an increased rate of social changes, to identify the factors that improve or affect career construction and quality of life of every disadvantaged social group. Referring to career theoretical models and variables, a set of qualitative and quantitative measures will be used to assess strengths and weaknesses of involved people and to better understand relations among variables. These research results allow us to develop and implement career intervention programs aimed at improving people resources and facilitating career and life constructions, as well as social and work participation. These interventions will be devoted both to people with disabilities and their significant others

Challenges Associated with Implementing an Education Program in a Residential Aged Care Setting
The link between independence and well-being of older people in residential care is well established. This paper reports some challenges encountered during implementation of an education program designed to assist nursing staff to adopt an independence-supporting model of residential care. The education program was part of a larger project aimed at developing an example of best practice in supported care which promotes independence, well-being and community linkages. Implementation of the program created many interesting challenges which were overcome by strategies and facilitating forces such as support from management and some staff, and the collaborative nature of the project. Positive outcomes of the education program included increased awareness of, and change in, practice; increased staff-resident interaction; and increased encouragement for residents to be independent and to engage with the wider community. Moreover, a facilitator manual - Promoting Independence: A Learning Resource for Aged Care Workers was subsequently developed so that the program can be implemented in aged care facilities elsewhere
The vocational ID : connecting life design counselling and personality systems interaction theory
We introduce the Vocational ID that integrates linguistic and visual representations of a career counselling client’s self. Based upon findings from the Life Design paradigm and the Personality Systems Interaction theory, the Vocational ID facilitates working on clients' vocational identity. In this article, we present the theoretical framework, its practical applications, and a case study
Embodying life-long learning: Transition and capstone experiences
This paper discusses the principle of Transition as it has been conceptualised by the Curriculum Renewal in Legal Education project. The project sought to develop a principled framework for renewing the final year of tertiary legal education in Australia. Capstone experiences were chosen as the most appropriate mechanism for assisting final year students to manage the transition process. Thoughtfully designed capstones assist students to integrate and synthesize their learning over their entire degree program, facilitate closure on the undergraduate experience, and assist students to transition from student to emerging professional. We discuss the importance of addressing final year students’ transitional needs and explain how the principle facilitates this process. Although the framework has been developed specifically for legal education in Australia its approach enables transferability across disciplines and institutions. The framework addresses criticisms that universities and law schools are not meeting the needs of final year students by preparing them for the transition to graduate life in a complex and uncertain world

New Jersey's Challenge: Moving People with Disabilities to Work
Summarizes the results of a December 2004 summit on connecting people with disabilities to the workforce. This summit examined the barriers to work that continue to exist for people with disabilities, as well as what supports and services are most critical to helping people with developmental and other disabilities enter and succeed in the workplace. Participants identified the four key stakeholders critical to people with disabilities (particularly severe disabilities) finding and keeping a job: jobseekers themselves, their family/caregivers, employers, and service providers/disability agencies. Each stakeholder plays a unique role in facilitating -- or hindering -- the employment of people with disabilities
Implementation of a Virtual Journal Club in a Clinical Nursing Setting
Healthcare practice is increasingly focused on delivering care that is based on published research evidence. Staff development nurses can institute journal clubs to teach nursing staff critical appraisal of research articles and ways to translate research findings into clinical practice. Unfortunately, attending meetings regularly is often a challenge for nurses, and relatively few have the knowledge and expertise to adequately critique research articles. One way to bridge the limitations of accessibility and limited research expertise of journal club members is to establish a virtual journal club. This article describes one hospital\u27s experience with developing a virtual journal club
