Searching is one of the commonly used task on the Internet. Search engines are the basic tool of the internet, from which related information can be collected according to the specified query or keyword given by the user, and are extremely popular for recurrently used sites. With the remarkable development of the World Wide Web (WWW), the information search has grown to be a major business segment of a global, competitive and money-making market. In spite of the recent developments on web search technologies, there are still many conditions in which search engine users obtains the non-relevant search results from the search engines. A personalized Web search has various levels of efficiency for different users, queries, and search contexts. Even though personalized search has been a major research area for many years and many personalization approaches have been examined, it is still uncertain whether personalization is always significant on different queries for diverse users and under different search contexts. This paper focusses on the survey of many efficient personalized Web search approaches which were proposed by many authors

Recognising the importance of information and knowledge in all spheres of human life, the recently held World Summit on Information Society came up with a plan of action for building a global information society. The goal of the world information society initiatives is the same as that of digital library research and development - to make information and knowledge accessibleto everyone in the world. Findings of some large-scale studies on human information behaviour on the web and digital libraries have been discussed. The major findings of a study on access to electronic resources by university students are the presented. Proposed that a one-stop window approach with a task-based information organisation and access system may be the way forward

Search results personalization is considered a promising approach to boost the quality of text retrieval. In this paper, a personalized information retrieval paradigm is proposed which not only implicitly creates user profile by learning users? search history, search preferences, and desktop information by kNN algorithm; but also intends to deal with the problem of search concepts drift through adjusting theweight of category which represents users? search preference.By comparing the cosine similarities between vectors represent personal valued search concepts in user profiles, and vectors represent search concepts in the retrieved search results, the search results will be tailed to better match users? information needs

eLearning has been evolved in a gradual and consistent way. Along with this evolution several specialized and disparate systems appeared to fulfill the needs of teachers and students such as repositories of learning objects, intelligent tutors, or automatic evaluators. This heterogeneity poses issues that are necessary to address in order to promote interoperability among systems. Based on this fact, the standardization of content takes a leading role in the eLearning realm. This article presents a survey on current eLearning content standards. It gathers information on the most emergent standards and categorizes them according three distinct facets: metadata, content packaging and educational design
