Filtering for uncertain 2-D discrete systems with state delays

The official published version can be obtained from the link below - Copyright 2007 Elsevier Ltd.This paper is concerned with the problem of robust H∞ filtering for two-dimensional (2-D) discrete systems with time-delays in states. The 2-D systems under consideration are described in terms of the well-known Fornasini–Marchesini local state-space (FMLSS) models with time-delays. Our attention is focused on the design of a full-order filter such that the filtering error system is guaranteed to be asymptotically stable with a prescribed H∞ disturbance attenuation performance. Sufficient conditions for the existence of desired filters are established by using a linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach, and the corresponding filter design problem is then cast into a convex optimization problem that can be efficiently solved by resorting to some standard numerical software. Furthermore, the obtained results are extended to more general cases where the system matrices contain either polytopic or norm-bounded parameter uncertainties. H∞ control of nonlinear systems: a convex characterization
The nonlinear H∞-control problem is considered with an emphasis on developing machinery with promising computational properties. The solutions to H∞-control problems for a class of nonlinear systems are characterized in terms of nonlinear matrix inequalities which result in convex problems. The computational implications for the characterization are discussed
Robust ℋ2 Performance: Guaranteeing Margins for LQG Regulators
This paper shows that ℋ2 (LQG) performance specifications can be combined with structured uncertainty in the system, yielding robustness analysis conditions of the same nature and computational complexity as the corresponding conditions for ℋ∞ performance. These conditions are convex feasibility tests in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities, and can be proven to be necessary and sufficient under the same conditions as in the ℋ∞ case.
With these results, the tools of robust control can be viewed as coming full circle to treat the problem where it all began: guaranteeing margins for LQG regulators
Analysis of Implicit Uncertain Systems. Part II: Constant Matrix Problems and Application to Robust H2 Analysis
This paper introduces an implicit framework for the analysis of uncertain systems, of which the general properties were described in Part I. In Part II, the theory is specialized to problems which admit a finite dimensional formulation. A constant matrix version of implicit analysis is presented, leading to a generalization of the structured singular value μ as the stability measure; upper bounds are developed and analyzed in detail. An application of this framework results in a practical method for robust H2 analysis: computing robust performance in the presence of norm-bounded perturbations and white-noise disturbances
Memory Resilient Gain-scheduled State-Feedback Control of Uncertain LTI/LPV Systems with Time-Varying Delays
The stabilization of uncertain LTI/LPV time delay systems with time varying
delays by state-feedback controllers is addressed. At the difference of other
works in the literature, the proposed approach allows for the synthesis of
resilient controllers with respect to uncertainties on the implemented delay.
It is emphasized that such controllers unify memoryless and exact-memory
controllers usually considered in the literature. The solutions to the
stability and stabilization problems are expressed in terms of LMIs which allow
to check the stability of the closed-loop system for a given bound on the
knowledge error and even optimize the uncertainty radius under some performance
constraints; in this paper, the performance measure is
considered. The interest of the approach is finally illustrated through several
examples

L-2 State Estimation With Guaranteed Convergence Speed in the Presence of Sporadic Measurements
This paper deals with the problem of estimating the state of a nonlinear time-invariant system in the presence of sporadically available measurements and external perturbations. An observer with a continuous intersample injection term is proposed. Such an intersample injection is provided by a linear dynamical system, whose state is reset to the measured output estimation error whenever a new measurement is available. The resulting system is augmented with a timer triggering the arrival of a new measurement and analyzed in a hybrid system framework. The design of the observer is performed to achieve exponential convergence with a given decay rate of the estimation error. Robustness with respect to external perturbations and L2-external stability from plant perturbations to a given performance output are considered. Computationally efficient algorithms based on the solution to linear matrix inequalities are proposed to design the observer. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed methodology is shown in an example
