Reproducible Experiment Platform
Data analysis in fundamental sciences nowadays is an essential process that
pushes frontiers of our knowledge and leads to new discoveries. At the same
time we can see that complexity of those analyses increases fast due to
a)~enormous volumes of datasets being analyzed, b)~variety of techniques and
algorithms one have to check inside a single analysis, c)~distributed nature of
research teams that requires special communication media for knowledge and
information exchange between individual researchers. There is a lot of
resemblance between techniques and problems arising in the areas of industrial
information retrieval and particle physics. To address those problems we
propose Reproducible Experiment Platform (REP), a software infrastructure to
support collaborative ecosystem for computational science. It is a Python based
solution for research teams that allows running computational experiments on
shared datasets, obtaining repeatable results, and consistent comparisons of
the obtained results. We present some key features of REP based on case studies
which include trigger optimization and physics analysis studies at the LHCb

Experiment Databases: Creating a New Platform for Meta-Learning Research
Many studies in machine learning try to investigate what makes an algorithm succeed or fail on certain datasets. However, the field is still evolving relatively quickly, and new algorithms, preprocessing methods, learning tasks and evaluation procedures continue to emerge in the literature. Thus, it is impossible for a single study to cover this expanding space of learning approaches. In this paper, we propose a community-based approach for the analysis of learning algorithms, driven by sharing meta-data from previous experiments in a uniform way. We illustrate how organizing this information in a central database can create a practical public platform for any kind of exploitation of meta-knowledge, allowing effective reuse of previous experimentation and targeted analysis of the collected results

The long range objective of this task is to develop basic technology in the design, mechanization, and analysis of control systems for large flexible space structures. The focus of the FY'81 platform control effort was on the pointing control problems associated with multiple independently controlled experiment packages operating simultaneously on a single platform. A Multiagent Platform for Developments of Accounting Intelligent Applications
AOP – Agent Oriented Programming – is a new software paradigm that brings many concepts from the artificial intelligence. This paper provides a short overview of the JADE software platform and the principal’s components constituting its distributed architecture. Space qualified nanosatellite electronics platform for photon pair experiments
We report the design and implementation of a complete electronics platform
for conducting a quantum optics experiment that will be operated on board a 1U
CubeSat (a 10 x 10 x 10 cm satellite). The quantum optics experiment is
designed to produce polarization-entangled photon pairs using non-linear
optical crystals and requires opto-electronic components such as a pump laser,
single photon detectors and liquid crystal based polarization rotators in
addition to passive optical elements. The platform provides mechanical support
for the optical assembly. It also communicates autonomously with the host
satellite to provide experiment data for transmission to a ground station. A
limited number of commands can be transmitted from ground to the platform
enabling it to switch experimental modes. This platform requires less than 1.5W
for all operations, and is space qualified. The implementation of this
electronics platform is a major step on the road to operating quantum

Development and Performance Evaluation of a Connected Vehicle Application Development Platform (CVDeP)
Connected vehicle (CV) application developers need a development platform to build,
test and debug real-world CV applications, such as safety, mobility, and environmental
applications, in edge-centric cyber-physical systems. Our study objective is to develop
and evaluate a scalable and secure CV application development platform (CVDeP)
that enables application developers to build, test and debug CV applications in realtime.
CVDeP ensures that the functional requirements of the CV applications meet the
corresponding requirements imposed by the specific applications. We evaluated the
efficacy of CVDeP using two CV applications (one safety and one mobility application)
and validated them through a field experiment at the Clemson University Connected
Vehicle Testbed (CU-CVT). Analyses prove the efficacy of CVDeP, which satisfies the
functional requirements (i.e., latency and throughput) of a CV application while
maintaining scalability and security of the platform and applications
Using FPGA for visuo-motor control with a silicon retina and a humanoid robot
The address-event representation (AER) is a
neuromorphic communication protocol for transferring
asynchronous events between VLSI chips. The event
information is transferred using a high speed digital parallel
bus. This paper present an experiment based on AER for
visual sensing, processing and finally actuating a robot. The
AER output of a silicon retina is processed by an AER filter
implemented into a FPGA to produce a mimicking behaviour
in a humanoid robot (The RoboSapiens V2). We have
implemented the visual filter into the Spartan II FPGA of the
USB-AER platform and the Central Pattern Generator (CPG)
into the Spartan 3 FPGA of the AER-Robot platform, both
