Epistemic Logic for Communication Chains
The paper considers epistemic properties of linear communication chains. It
describes a sound and complete logical system that, in addition to the standard
axioms of S5 in a multi-modal language, contains two non-trivial axioms that
capture the linear structure of communication chains.Comment: 7 pages, Contributed talk at TARK 2013 (arXiv:1310.6382)

Recent Conceptual Consequences of Loop Quantum Gravity. Part II: Holistic Aspects
Based on the foundational aspects which have been discussed as consequences
of ongoing research on loop quantum gravity in the first part of this paper,
the holistic aspects of the latter are discussed in this second part, aiming at
a consistent and systematic approach to eventually model a hierarchically
ordered architecture of the world which is encompassing all of what there
actually is. The idea is to clarify the explicit relationship between physics
and philosophy on the one hand, and philosophy and the sciences in general, on
the other. It is shown that the ontological determination of worldliness is
practically identical with its epistemological determination so that the
(scientific) activity of modelling and representing the world can be visualized
itself as a (worldly) mode of being.Comment: 20 page
Automated proof search system for logic of correlated knowledge
The automated proof search system and decidability for logic of correlated
knowledge is presented in this paper. The core of the proof system is the
sequent calculus with the properties of soundness, completeness, admissibility
of cut and structural rules, and invertibility of all rules. The proof search
procedure based on the sequent calculus performs automated terminating proof
search and allows us to achieve decision result for logic of correlated
knowledge
Applied Epistemology and Understanding in Information Studies
Introduction. Applied epistemology allows information studies to benefit from developments in philosophy. In information studies, epistemic concepts are rarely considered in detail. This paper offers a review of several epistemic concepts, focusing on understanding, as a call for further work in applied epistemology in information studies.
Method. A hermeneutic literature review was conducted on epistemic concepts in information studies and philosophy. Relevant research was retrieved and reviewed iteratively as the research area was refined.
Analysis. A conceptual analysis was conducted to determine the nature and relationships of the concepts surveyed, with an eye toward synthesizing conceptualizations of understanding and opening future research directions.
Results. The epistemic aim of understanding is emerging as a key research frontier for information studies. Two modes of understanding (hermeneutic and epistemological) were brought into a common framework.
Conclusions. Research on understanding in information studies will further naturalistic information research and provide coherence to several strands of philosophic thought
