A Review of Power Domain Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access in 5G Networks
This paper highlights the fundamentals of the strong candidate Power Domain Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (PD-NOMA) technique, and how it can best fit the requirements of fifth Generation (5G) in practical applications. PD-NOMA ensures flexibility in radio resource to improve user’s access performance. Multiple users share the same radio resources in PD-NOMA, and therefore better spectrum efficiency can be achieved. The practical system design aspects of PD-NOMA are considered in this paper by exploring different network scenarios. Optimal performances of PD-NOMA system can be obtained by suitable power allocation schemes, with reduce the computational complexity, and advanced user pairing strategy. Theoretical formulation and solutions are also explained prior to the concept of downlink PD-NOMA. Challenges and future research windows are discussed before conclusion of this paper
INTERFERENCE MANAGEMENT IN LTE SYSTEM AND BEYOUND
The key challenges to high throughput in cellular wireless communication system are interference, mobility and bandwidth limitation. Mobility has never been a problem until recently, bandwidth has been constantly improved upon through the evolutions in cellular wireless communication system but interference has been a constant limitation to any improvement that may have resulted from such evolution. The fundamental challenge to a system designer or a researcher is how to achieve high data rate in motion (high speed) in a cellular system that is intrinsically interference-limited.
Multi-antenna is the solution to data on the move and the capacity of multi-antenna system has been demonstrated to increase proportionally with increase in the number of antennas at both transmitter and receiver for point-to-point communications and multi-user environment. However, the capacity gain in both uplink and downlink is limited in a multi-user environment like cellular system by interference, the number of antennas at the base station, complexity and space constraint particularly for a mobile terminal.
This challenge in the downlink provided the motivation to investigate successive interference cancellation (SIC) as an interference management tool LTE system and beyond. The Simulation revealed that ordered successive interference (OSIC) out performs non-ordered successive interference cancellation (NSIC) and the additional complexity is justified based on the associated gain in BER performance of OSIC. The major drawback of OSIC is that it is not efficient in network environment employing power control or power allocation. Additional interference management techniques will be required to fully manage the interference.fi=Opinnäytetyö kokotekstinä PDF-muodossa.|en=Thesis fulltext in PDF format.|sv=Lärdomsprov tillgängligt som fulltext i PDF-format
Performance analysis of carrier aggregation for various mobile network implementations scenario based on spectrum allocated
Carrier Aggregation (CA) is one of the Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A)
features that allow mobile network operators (MNO) to combine multiple
component carriers (CCs) across the available spectrum to create a wider
bandwidth channel for increasing the network data throughput and overall
capacity. CA has a potential to enhance data rates and network performance in
the downlink, uplink, or both, and it can support aggregation of frequency
division duplexing (FDD) as well as time division duplexing (TDD). The
technique enables the MNO to exploit fragmented spectrum allocations and can be
utilized to aggregate licensed and unlicensed carrier spectrum as well. This
paper analyzes the performance gains and complexity level that arises from the
aggregation of three inter-band component carriers (3CC) as compared to the
aggregation of 2CC using a Vienna LTE System Level simulator. The results show
a considerable growth in the average cell throughput when 3CC aggregations are
implemented over the 2CC aggregation, at the expense of reduction in the
fairness index. The reduction in the fairness index implies that, the scheduler
has an increased task in resource allocations due to the added component
carrier. Compensating for such decrease in the fairness index could result into
scheduler design complexity. The proposed scheme can be adopted in combining
various component carriers, to increase the bandwidth and hence the data rates.Comment: 13 page
