The future of electricity grids is undergoing a major change in environmental, social, economic and technological concepts. Increasing the use of energy generation through renewable energy, developing the use of energy storage systems and climate change awareness means that microgrids are taking a crucial role in energy distribution and consumption. Consequently, in this Final Thesis is modelled and optimized the Economic Dispatch of a microgrid, which is formed by dispatchable generation elements (diesel engine and microturbine), renewable generation elements (wind turbine and photovoltaic unit) and a battery-powered energy storage system to improve microgrid control. An objective second-order function is proposed that relates power to fuel cost. Economic Dispatch is used to minimize microgrid operating costs. There are different linear constraints on the operation of the microgrid, related to the power limit generated, state of charge of the batteries and power balance. Three optimizations of the economic office are performed, in which the initial and final state of charge of the batteries are varied. Different results are obtained in each simulation to achieve the minimum operating cost.Ingenierí
