Workshop on Data Communications

With many existing computer networks and many more planned to come into operation, new problems are beginning to appear concerning their inter-connection. On September 15-19. 1975, a Workshop on Data Communications was held at Laxenburg, jointly sponsored by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA). Evolution of Computer Networks: Theory and Experience. Proceedings of the Meeting, December 10-12, 1979

The properties of a computer system's architecture can be examined from the point of view of data processing organization, i.e. centralized and distributed organization; utilization mode, i.e. batch and interactive; and communication function, i.e. number and types of protocols, etc. This paper presents a method of system architecture analysis characterized by a model of the user Job Handling Process (JHP). In order to compare the properties of data processing functions and mechanisms in systems with centralized and distributed architectures, JHP and Open Systems Architecture (OSA) models have been used. The typically applicational approach of the JHP model and the layer approach of the OSA model to the analysis of the system architecture permitted the author to propose an additional layer in the OSA mode. Pyrotechnic hazards classification and evaluation program. Electrostatic vulnerability of the E8 and XM15/XM165 clusters, phase 1

A survey of the electrostatic vulnerability of explosive manufacturing plants and recommendations for reducing the vulnerability are discussed. During the course of the investigations, the XM15/XM165 and the E8 launcher were shown to be susceptible to electrostatic ignition. The pyrotechnic hazard of prime concern associated with electrostatics is that of the spark which can be generated. The heat, shock, and ionization produced by the spark can cause ignition of pyrotechnics. However, as a result of the initial ignition tests (XM15 fuse train), changes have been incorporated to make the fusing system relatively safe from premature electrostatic activation

L'informatica giuridica in Italia. Cinquant'anni di studi, ricerche ed esperienze

Nel panorama editoriale nazionale mancava un volume che ricostruisse la storia dell'informatica giuridica (IG) in Italia, esigenza sentita da più parti anche fuori dai nostri confini. Partendo da questa constatazione, è nata l'idea di offrire, in un'opera collettanea, una panoramica sull'origine ed evoluzione dell'IG, in cui confluiscano i contributi dei veri protagonisti di questa storia. Il volume raccoglie infatti le riflessioni, le esperienze, i progetti del nostro Paese attraverso i maggiori esperti e le più importanti istituzioni che hanno lavorato attivamente allo sviluppo di questa disciplina, intesa nel significato di IG in senso stretto, o informatica del diritto. Per offrire uno sguardo oltre i confini nazionali, l'opera include, sotto forma di interviste, anche le riflessioni dei maggiori studiosi ed esperti provenienti dai cinque continenti. La parte finale è dedicata alle sfide e opportunità che i ricercatori dell'ITTIG - Istituto di Teoria e Tecniche dell'Informazione Giuridica del CNR individuano nel rapporto tra diritto e tecnologie informatiche. In questo lungo percorso, infatti, la storia dell'IG si intreccia con quella scientifica dell'Istituto che da sempre gioca un ruolo centrale nel contesto nazionale e internazionale. Il volume non vuole essere un manuale, ma una fonte di riferimento per tutti coloro che si interessano della materia. La trattazione dei vari argomenti ha infatti un taglio soprattutto storico, non rifuggendo dalle esperienze personali di ogni singolo autore. Si auspica che il lettore ricavi dall'opera non solo l'evoluzione storica dell'IG in Italia, ma anche lo spirito, l'atmosfera che aleggiava in quegli anni
