Digital Supply Chain Transformation toward Blockchain Integration

    Get PDF
Digital supply chain integration is becoming \ increasingly dynamic. Access to customer demand \ needs to be shared effectively, and product and service \ deliveries must be tracked to provide visibility in the \ supply chain. Business process integration is based on \ standards and reference architectures, which should \ offer end-to-end integration of product data. \ Companies operating in supply chains establish \ process and data integration through the specialized \ intermediate companies, whose role is to establish \ interoperability by mapping and integrating companyspecific \ data for various organizations and systems. \ This has typically caused high integration costs, and \ diffusion is slow. This paper investigates the \ requirements and functionalities of supply chain \ integration. Cloud integration can be expected to offer \ a cost-effective business model for interoperable \ digital supply chains. We explain how supply chain \ integration through the blockchain technology can \ achieve disruptive transformation in digital supply \ chains and networks

(B)LOCKBOX -- Secure Software Architecture with Blockchain Verification

According to experts, one third of all IT vulnerabilities today are due to inadequate software verification. Internal program processes are not sufficiently secured against manipulation by attackers, especially if access has been gained. There is a lack of internal control instances that can monitor and control program flows. Especially when a software vulnerability becomes known, quick action is required, whereby the consequences for an individual application are often not foreseeable. With our approach (B)LOCKBOX, software building blocks act as verified entities within a transaction-based blockchain network. Source Code, binaries and application execution become supervised. Unwanted interference and manipulation are prevented by the integrity of the distributed system

Blockchain for Supply Chain Management: Practice-Based View

    Get PDF
In the context of supply chain management, technological and strategic management practices play a critical role in managing supply chain processes that generate operational performance gains for firms. In this paper, we investigate the potential implications of blockchain for both supply chain management and operational processes management practices to develop the higher-order capability of information system integration. This capability enables firms to manage information flow from operational processes and allows information sharing with supply chain partners. From the perspective of practice-based view (PBV), we developed our research model and propositions to address the authenticity of food safety issues and sustainability in the context of the supply chain. We also highlight the need for blockchain implementation within the food industries that create an information-based approach for better operational performance

The Acceptance of the Application of Blockchain Technology in the Supply Chain Process of the Thai Automotive Industry

Blockchain technology is an optional new technologies to manage the supply chain process. This technology helps to improve and solve the issue of transparency as well as monitor operations in the supply chain. The study found that the perceived benefits of Blockchain technology in the automotive industry, inter-organizational trust are the important factors that affect the acceptance of Blockchain in the supply chain process. Inter-organizational relationship has negative impact on Blockchain technology acceptance. The non-mediated power is a key factor that builds inter-organizational trust and leads to success in the technology application in this industry. The results can be used as a guideline for the automotive industry to apply Blockchain technologies to the operations

Construction Industry is currently evolving around the world. On the other hand, despite the technological advancement across most sectors, construction industry remains amongst laggards in digitalization. Currently, engineering business is facing technological disruption ahead of the fourth industrial revolution; one of which is the blockchain technology! Blockchain is new to construction industry, its challenges and opportunities are yet to be fully realized. This study explores the challenges and potential opportunities of blockchain in the construction industry through extensive review of literature within the blockchain domain vis-à-vis construction business domain. The study presents challenges under three categories (technical, regulation and social), and the potential opportunities in to improving efficiency and reducing conflict through transparency and trust. That will ultimately create value for money in the procurement of construction works. Recommendations are made based on the study finding to advance the research on blockchain applications in to the construction industry

Implementation of Global Supply Chains as a Strategy for Increasing National Competitiveness

    Get PDF
Abstract— Today competitiveness depends not only on price but also on customer service and delivery time. The creation of an effective infrastructure and the development of global supply chains is the key condition for increasing competitiveness. The study is based on the analysis of peer-reviewed literature, as well as the information publicly available on official websites. The purpose of the research is to conduct a thorough analysis and compare the level of competitiveness and efficiency throughout the supply chain of logistics services in different countries. The logistics efficiency and global competitiveness indicators have been analyzed. It has been concluded that favorable conditions in the country evidenced by its high ranking in the International Logistics Performance Index determine the potential for the implementation of global chains and provide opportunities for increasing competitiveness

Abstract— Electronic commerce is widely considered as a part of electronic business and the result of digital transformation. This paper aims to evaluate the capabilities and development of digital technologies in supply chain management. The evaluation process is conducted on the example of Kazakhstan by comparing the country with logistics and digital adaptation leaders. The paper analyses the effectiveness of information, communication, and logistics technologies development in supply chain management (SCM). The analysis involves systematizing secondary information. This research uses statistics from open sources as a foundation for descriptive comparative analysis to achieve research goals. The indicators such as logistics performance and the spread of information and communication technologies are selected for the evaluation. The paper outlines that an effective supply chain is essential to country’s development and integration into the world economy within the context of globalization and digital transformation

Online Leadership for Open Source Project Success: Evidence from the GitHub Blockchain Projects

    Get PDF
Blockchain technology has become increasingly popular in recent years. However, only 8% of blockchain open source projects are maintained actively on GitHub. Drawing on the online leadership literature, this study seeks to understand the correlation between leader characteristics and success of blockchain open source projects from the behavioral (knowledge contribution), structural (social capital) and cognitive (openness orientation) dimensions. Considering the unique decentralization nature of blockchain, this study further investigates the contingency effect of blockchain archetypes with empirical evidence from GitHub. Our findings provide novel insights for understanding the determinants of blockchain open source project success and leadership behaviors in the online community

Digitalization of Supply Chains: Focus on International Rail Transport in the Case of the Czech Republic

    Get PDF
The digitalization of supply chains presents a complex subject for research based on different geography setups, legal policy frameworks and a focus on technology. The paper discusses potential and issues in regards to the digitalization implementation in supply chains of the future with a focus laid on rail transport as one of the transport modes in freight distribution. The authors analyze empirical data for the Czech Republic as a geographically scoped case study by analyzing interviews with business practitioners that are active in the rail transport market. The research outcomes interlink the development of the legal framework in international rail transport with the emergence of electronic transport documentation as an important practical aspect of digitalization. Finally, it raises questions related to the critical preconditions of digitalization of supply chains
