Digital Motif Design Inspired By Paksi Naga Liman
Nowadays the use of motifs has been widely used in all aspects of life, especially in fabrics. Looking at current technological developments, pattern design techniques can easily be done digitally. In Indonesia, there have been innovations in motif processing sofware, namely JBatik. According to Hariardi and Lukman (2013) JBatik Is a software that is builds using Java Programming with GUI and user friendliness for designers/ artists. By using JBatik, batik or motif design with fractal concept can be made easily. The methods used to collect data this study are in the form of literature studies about motifs and development of patterns, interviews with Batik Fractal Chief Designer Officers (CDO) and observations of vector and JBatik sofware to create motifs and compositions. This study also carried out experimental methods in a quantitative way in the form of formula variables used in making compositions with JBatik’s Lsystem and qualitative compositions in designing visual motifs and compositions. This study aims to combine the potential of vector-based and fractal-based software to process variations of motifs and fractal formulas to make pattern compositions that have efficiency and diverse visualization from the inspiration of Paksi Naga Liman which is a chariot from Keraton Kesepuhan Cirebon.

Design of an analog/digital truly random number generator
An analog-digital system is presented for the generation of truly random (aperiodic) digital sequences. This model is based on a very simple piecewise-linear discrete map which is suitable for implementation using monolithic analog sampled-data techniques. Simulation results are given illustrating the optimum choice of the model parameters. Circuit implementations are reported for the discrete map using both switched-capacitor (SC) and switched-current (SI) techniques. Digital information support for concept design
This paper outlines the issues in effective utilisation of digital resources in conceptual design. Access to appropriate information acts as stimuli and can lead to better substantiated concepts. This paper addresses the issues of presenting such information in a digital form for effective use, exploring digital libraries and groupware as relevant literature areas, and argues that improved integration of these two technologies is necessary to better support the concept generation task. The development of the LauLima learning environment and digital library is consequently outlined. Despite its attempts to integrate the designers' working space and digital resources, continuing issues in library utilisation and migration of information to design concepts are highlighted through a class study. In light of this, new models of interaction to increase information use are explored
Design as conversation with digital materials
This paper explores Donald Schön's concept of design as a conversation with materials, in the context of designing digital systems. It proposes material utterance as a central event in designing. A material utterance is a situated communication act that depends on the particularities of speaker, audience, material and genre.
The paper argues that, if digital designing differs from other forms of designing, then accounts for such differences must be sought by understanding the material properties of digital systems and the genres of practice that surround their use. Perspectives from human-computer interaction (HCI) and the psychology of programming are used to examine how such an understanding might be constructed.</p
Developing digital literacy in construction management education: a design thinking led approach
Alongside the digital innovations in AEC (Architectural, Engineering and Construction) practice, are calls for a new type of digital literacy, including a new information-based literacy informed by creativity, critical analysis and the theoretical and practical knowledge of the construction profession. This paper explores the role of design thinking and the promotion of abductive problem situations when developing digital literacies in construction education. The impacts of advanced digital modelling technologies on construction management practices and education are investigated before an examination of design thinking, the role of abductive reasoning and the rise of normative models of design thinking workflows. The paper then explores the role that design thinking can play in the development of new digital literacies in contemporary construction studies. A three-part framework for the implementation of a design thinking approach to construction is presented. The paper closes with a discussion of the importance of models of design thinking for learning and knowledge production, emphasising how construction management education can benefit from them

How Design Plays Strategic Roles in Internet Service Innovation: Lessons from Korean Companies
In order to survive in the highly competitive internet business, companies have to provide differentiated services that can satisfy the rapidly changing users’ tastes and needs. Designers have been increasingly committed to achieving user satisfaction by generating and visualizing innovative solutions in new internet service development. The roles of internet service design have expanded from a narrow focus on aesthetics into a more strategic aspect. This paper investigates the methods of managing design in order to enhance companies’ competitiveness in internet business. The main research processes are to: (1) explore the current state of internet service design in Korea through in-depth interviews with professional designers and survey questionnaires to 30 digital design agencies and 60 clients; (2) compare how design is managed between in-house design groups and digital design agencies though the case studies of five Korean companies; and (3) develop a taxonomy characterizing four roles of designers in conjunction with the levels of their strategic contributions to internet service innovation: visualist, solution provider, concept generator, and service initiator. In addition, we demonstrate the growing contributions of the strategic use of design for innovating internet services, building robust brand equity, and increasing business performance.

On prefilters for digital FIR filter design
A new family of digital prefilter structures is introduced, based on the Dolph-Chebyshev function. These prefilters can be combined with appropriately designed "equalizer" filters based on equiripple methods, leading to efficient FIR digital filter designs. Design examples are included, demonstrating the simplicity of the resulting designs, as compared to conventional equiripple designs
