In the existing world of geographic information systems (GIS), desktop mapping has taken a critical role for managing and using spatial information for business. But desktop-based GIS application having any limitation for users. The research was conducted to develop the web-based GIS in order to manage groundwater exploration and production, preventing from uncontrolled exploration, using Java Applet, MySQL Spatial and PHP. The system development was designed by using waterfall model of system life cycle with following steps: 1) system requirements, 2) software requirements, 3) analysis, 4) program design, 5) coding, 6) testing, and 7) operation, supported by reference study, observation, and peer discussion. The result shows that by using Java Applet, MySQL Spatial and PHP, web-based GIS for groundwater management is customizable to create spatial modeling and well log modeling, user friendly, interactive, interoperable, informative, and easy to access with LAN/WAN connected PC. The application is very helpful in order to balance between groundwater supply and production, groundwater level monitoring, water quality monitoring, and groundwater user monitoring. Hopefully, the implementation of the system will help the groundwater supply conservation for sustainable development

Android-Based Application for Children’s Growth Monitoring as a Complement for Child Development Card

Posyandu is a community activity center to provide health services and family planning. Routine monthly weighing for toddlers is one of the activities carried out by the Posyandu. This activity aims to detect early childhood growth disorders to address these problems quickly and precisely. However, since the Covid-19 pandemic, the toddler Posyandu, held regularly every month, has been temporarily suspended until the pandemic ends. This situation causes monitoring of toddlers' growth, and development cannot be done. Therefore we need a mechanism for monitoring child growth and development that can be done online via a smartphone. In previous research has implemented several desktop, web, and mobile-based information systems, but they do not yet have complex features such as maternal and child health information management. The purpose of this research is to create an android-based application in the form of an information system for Child Development Posyandu, which will contain several features such as immunization schedules, monitoring of child growth and development, health news. This application development uses the design sprint method. The test results with the User Acceptance Test method of this android application to user respondents show that 80% of the applications are in a Good category and can be used at Posyandu

Multifaceted Faculty Network Design and Management: Practice and Experience Report

We report on our experience on multidimensional aspects of our faculty's network design and management, including some unique aspects such as campus-wide VLANs and ghosting, security and monitoring, switching and routing, and others. We outline a historical perspective on certain research, design, and development decisions and discuss the network topology, its scalability, and management in detail; the services our network provides, and its evolution. We overview the security aspects of the management as well as data management and automation and the use of the data by other members of the IT group in the faculty.Comment: 19 pages, 11 figures, TOC and index; a short version presented at C3S2E'11; v6: more proofreading, index, TOC, reference

Lessons Learned from a Decade of Providing Interactive, On-Demand High Performance Computing to Scientists and Engineers

For decades, the use of HPC systems was limited to those in the physical sciences who had mastered their domain in conjunction with a deep understanding of HPC architectures and algorithms. During these same decades, consumer computing device advances produced tablets and smartphones that allow millions of children to interactively develop and share code projects across the globe. As the HPC community faces the challenges associated with guiding researchers from disciplines using high productivity interactive tools to effective use of HPC systems, it seems appropriate to revisit the assumptions surrounding the necessary skills required for access to large computational systems. For over a decade, MIT Lincoln Laboratory has been supporting interactive, on-demand high performance computing by seamlessly integrating familiar high productivity tools to provide users with an increased number of design turns, rapid prototyping capability, and faster time to insight. In this paper, we discuss the lessons learned while supporting interactive, on-demand high performance computing from the perspectives of the users and the team supporting the users and the system. Building on these lessons, we present an overview of current needs and the technical solutions we are building to lower the barrier to entry for new users from the humanities, social, and biological sciences.Comment: 15 pages, 3 figures, First Workshop on Interactive High Performance Computing (WIHPC) 2018 held in conjunction with ISC High Performance 2018 in Frankfurt, German
