The weights of evaluation criteria could have a significant impact on the results obtained by applying multiple criteria decision-making methods. Therefore, the two extensions of the SWARA method that can be used in cases when it is not easy, or even is impossible to reach a consensus on the expected importance of the evaluation criteria are proposed in this paper. The primary objective of the proposed extensions is to provide an understandable and easy-to-use approach to the collecting of respondents’ real attitudes towards the significance of evaluation criteria and to also provide an approach to the checking of the reliability of the data collected

A Hybrid Model Based on Fuzzy AHP and Fuzzy WASPAS for Construction Site Selection

    Get PDF
The purpose of this article is to propose a fuzzy multi-attribute perfor- mance measurement (MAPM) framework using the merits of both a novel Weighted Aggregated Sum-Product Assessment method with Fuzzy values (WASPAS-F) and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The object of this study is to select the best shopping centre construction site in Vilnius. A number of conflicting qualitative and quantitative attributes exist for evaluating alternative construction sites. Qualitative attributes are accompanied by ambiguities and vagueness. This makes fuzzy logic a more natural approach to this kind of multi-attribute decision making (MADM) prob- lems. Fuzzy AHP is applied for assigning weights of the attributes and WASPAS-F method is used to determine the most suitable alternative

Glasshouse is a kind of greenhouse that is larger than prevalent greenhouses. Glasshouses may have wide various applications and totally, is more applicable than greenhouse. One important point about glasshouse that should be considered is selecting a good location. Besides, finding a suitable location for this purpose is so hard because establishing a glasshouse needs a large area. Financial justification which is a major issue in glasshouse Investments highlights the importance of its locating. This research is based on strategic property management perspectives and its results can be used to properly locate an economically justifiable glasshouse in both governmental and private levels. There are some other important criteria affects on this issue. This research aimed at presenting new hybrid framework for glasshouse locating based on two MCDM methods. SWARA and COPRAS are applied in this research for glasshouse locating. This methodology for the first time is applied in a research. SWARA is applied for evaluating criteria and COPRAS is applied for evaluating alternatives. For illustrating the research methodology, a case study in Tehran, Iran is presented in the research. This research can be useful as a framework for this aim and also has the advantage to apply in other research areas

Choice of location in many cases is a key factor setting up a new business object. In this article the KEMIRA-M method is proposed to establish priority of criteria and determine criteria weights. Weighted sum of criteria values was applied for ranking the alternatives. This technique is useful if the evaluation criteria naturally consist of several logically explained groups of criteria. Method requires much less initial information and is based upon searching the solution of optimisation problem. KEMIRA-M is applied for the case study of construction site for non-hazardous waste incineration plant in Vilnius City

In recent years futures science has received a great deal of attention and has gained worldwide credibility in the science community as the science of tomorrows. The countless applications of futures studies in various fields have been a major breakthrough for mankind. Undoubtedly, decision making is one of the most significant aspects of shaping the future and an integral part of any credible future research. Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) in general and Multiple Attribute Decision Making in particular (MADM), are among the most remarkable subparts of the decision making process. The most recent model developed using the MADM method is the Dynamic MADM. The model does not specifically concentrate on the future actions and approaches and remains to be fully explored. This research presents a new concept and a new approach in the MADM field which is called the Prospective Multiple Attribute Decision Making (PMADM). The PMADM model can very well cover the DMADM concept but instead chooses to focus on future topics. The study also introduces two new approaches. The first research aims to elaborate the basis of this model and then evolves to deal with the future limiters as they potentially pop up and change the course of future actions. The new model based on future limiters is separated and categorized into two sections; one of which is looked upon without the probabilities rate and the other one with the probabilities rate. This approach is deemed priceless due to its major applicability in the ranking of the MADM methods such as: TOPSIS, VIKOR, COPRAS, ARAS, WASPAS and etc. Finally, a case study with the various applications of PMADM model in WASPAS methodology is put forth and illustrated
