International Cooperation On Combating Human Trafficking Especially Women And Children: A View from Indonesia

    Get PDF

Consumer credit information systems: A critical review of the literature. Too little attention paid by lawyers?

    Get PDF
This paper reviews the existing literature on consumer credit reporting, the most extensively used instrument to overcome information asymmetry and adverse selection problems in credit markets. Despite the copious literature in economics and some research in regulatory policy, the legal community has paid almost no attention to the legal framework of consumer credit information systems, especially within the context of the European Union. Studies on the topic, however, seem particularly relevant in view of the establishment of a single market for consumer credit. This article ultimately calls for further legal research to address consumer protection concerns and inform future legislation

Who was “Big George”? An exploration and critique of Aboriginalist discourse within historical photographic and written texts

This thesis is a series of counter-histories to the visual and written textual representations of Jaal, a Yamaji figure who was also known as “Big George the Cannibal” and “King George of Meekatharra”. It is set against the backdrop of violent colonisation and two scientific expeditions to the Murchison in Western Australia during the late 19th and early 20th centuries

Understanding future skills and enriching the skills debate

    Get PDF
This 3rd report of the Deliverable 6.1 builds on the framework for future skills and the skills categorisation developed in the 1st and 2nd reports of the Deliverable 6.1. The report focuses on empirical results of the Beyond 4.0 project on the topic of skills within the digital transformation. It draws from the range of empirical data collected during the qualitative research undertaken in Work Packages 4 and 8 of the BEYOND 4.0 project by identifying illustrative examples exemplifying the impact of digitalisation on the five categories of the aforementioned skills categorisation, presents and discusses the findings along the lines of skills demand and skills supply-sides issues, and accordingly, presents a number of recommendations for policymakers

A systematic review of the impacts of climate variability and change on electricity systems in Europe

    Get PDF
Understanding the impacts of climate variability and change (CV&C) on electricity systems is paramount for operators preparing for weather-related disruptions, policymakers deciding on future directions of energy policies and European decision makers shaping research programs. This study conducted a systematic literature review to collate consistent patterns of impacts of CV&C on electricity systems in Europe. We found that, in the absence of adaptation and for current capacity, thermal electricity generation will decrease for the near term to mid-21st century (NT-MC) and the end of the 21st century (EC). In contrast, renewable electricity generation will increase for hydroelectricity in Northern Europe (NT-MC and EC), for solar electricity in Germany (NT-MC) and the United Kingdom and Spain (NT-MC and EC) and for wind electricity in the Iberian Peninsula (NT-MC) and over the Baltic and Aegean Sea (NT-MC and EC). Although the knowledge frontier in this area has advanced, the evidence available remains patchy. Future assessments should not only address some of the gaps identified but also better contextualise their results against those of earlier assessments. This review could provide a starting point for doing so

Automated Analysis of ARM Binaries using the Low-Level Virtual Machine Compiler Framework

    Get PDF
Binary program analysis is a critical capability for offensive and defensive operations in Cyberspace. However, many current techniques are ineffective or time-consuming and few tools can analyze code compiled for embedded processors such as those used in network interface cards, control systems and mobile phones. This research designs and implements a binary analysis system, called the Architecture-independent Binary Abstracting Code Analysis System (ABACAS), which reverses the normal program compilation process, lifting binary machine code to the Low-Level Virtual Machine (LLVM) compiler\u27s intermediate representation, thereby enabling existing security-related analyses to be applied to binary programs. The prototype targets ARM binaries but can be extended to support other architectures. Several programs are translated from ARM binaries and analyzed with existing analysis tools. Programs lifted from ARM binaries are an average of 3.73 times larger than the same programs compiled from a high-level language (HLL). Analysis results are equivalent regardless of whether the HLL source or ARM binary version of the program is submitted to the system, confirming the hypothesis that LLVM is effective for binary analysis
