QoE in Pull Based P2P-TV Systems: Overlay Topology Design Tradeoff
Abstract—This paper presents a systematic performance anal-ysis of pull P2P video streaming systems for live applications, providing guidelines for the design of the overlay topology and the chunk scheduling algorithm. The contribution of the paper is threefold: 1) we propose a realistic simulative model of the system that represents the effects of access bandwidth heterogeneity, latencies, peculiar characteristics of the video, while still guaranteeing good scalability properties; 2) we propose a new latency/bandwidth-aware overlay topology design strategy that improves application layer performance while reducing the underlying transport network stress; 3) we investigate the impact of chunk scheduling algorithms that explicitly exploit properties of encoded video. Results show that our proposal jointly improves the actual Quality of Experience of users and reduces the cost the transport network has to support. I
Virtual Office Design For The Effectiveness Of Web_based Office Administration Works
Virtual Office is the science of information technology which is a new thing for some people. The word of virtual has a meaning of visible or tangible, it means that in the future an office is intangible because it will be replaced by a system which is specifically designed to replace the role of office by applying web -based computer programming. Nowdays, Offices have been applied are still using a certain place with a wide range of file and requiring a storage cabinet. These issues triggered the researcher tried to design a virtual office with a concept which is able to handle a variety of problems, ranging from archival storage , searching the archives , phone , video conference , sending letters, categorizing archives and saving faculty and staff data. These concepts developed by the researcher offered well organized data that all files or all archives of administrative office tucked neatly away in a database in well organizing so it made easier in searching a spesific archive. The final objective of the research is the improvement of the workers’ performance because it will shorten the time to manage archives or files. Manufacture of incoming mail, outgoing mail, disposition and also numbering letters will be arranged neatly, thus will increase the effectiveness of a worker. (Abstract
Band Codes for Energy-Efficient Network Coding with Application to P2P Mobile Streaming
A key problem in random network coding (NC) lies in the complexity and energy
consumption associated with the packet decoding processes, which hinder its
application in mobile environments. Controlling and hence limiting such factors
has always been an important but elusive research goal, since the packet degree
distribution, which is the main factor driving the complexity, is altered in a
non-deterministic way by the random recombinations at the network nodes. In
this paper we tackle this problem proposing Band Codes (BC), a novel class of
network codes specifically designed to preserve the packet degree distribution
during packet encoding, ecombination and decoding. BC are random codes over
GF(2) that exhibit low decoding complexity, feature limited and controlled
degree distribution by construction, and hence allow to effectively apply NC
even in energy-constrained scenarios. In particular, in this paper we motivate
and describe our new design and provide a thorough analysis of its performance.
We provide numerical simulations of the performance of BC in order to validate
the analysis and assess the overhead of BC with respect to a onventional NC
scheme. Moreover, peer-to-peer media streaming experiments with a random-push
protocol show that BC reduce the decoding complexity by a factor of two, to a
point where NC-based mobile streaming to mobile devices becomes practically

Simulation and data analysis of peer-to-peer traffic for live video streaming
Evaluating and testing changes or configurations to peer-to-peer systems or even understanding their behaviour can be complicated. One approach is to simulate a large peer-to-peer system and visualise the results. In this master's thesis a study is performed to understand how an actual implementation of a hybrid peer-to-peer live video streaming system behaves and performs under different scenarios. The behaviour and performance of a hybrid live video streaming system consisting of an unstructured mesh-pull-based P2P network and a classic content delivery network solution is studied by simulating the system with different scenarios such as flash crowds and flash disconnects. The simulation system includes a network model taking latency and bandwidth into consideration. As expected the mesh-based system performed well under user churn. Although the system consisted of approximately 80% free-riders the utilisation of the content distribution network was reduced by 95% on average. The data analysis was successful in improving the system's overall performance. Furthermore, the visualisations and data analysis were used to understand the system's behaviour

Network coding meets multimedia: a review
While every network node only relays messages in a traditional communication system, the recent network coding (NC) paradigm proposes to implement simple in-network processing with packet combinations in the nodes. NC extends the concept of "encoding" a message beyond source coding (for compression) and channel coding (for protection against errors and losses). It has been shown to increase network throughput compared to traditional networks implementation, to reduce delay and to provide robustness to transmission errors and network dynamics. These features are so appealing for multimedia applications that they have spurred a large research effort towards the development of multimedia-specific NC techniques. This paper reviews the recent work in NC for multimedia applications and focuses on the techniques that fill the gap between NC theory and practical applications. It outlines the benefits of NC and presents the open challenges in this area. The paper initially focuses on multimedia-specific aspects of network coding, in particular delay, in-network error control, and mediaspecific error control. These aspects permit to handle varying network conditions as well as client heterogeneity, which are critical to the design and deployment of multimedia systems. After introducing these general concepts, the paper reviews in detail two applications that lend themselves naturally to NC via the cooperation and broadcast models, namely peer-to-peer multimedia streaming and wireless networkin

Multimedia delivery in the future internet
The term “Networked Media” implies that all kinds of media including text, image, 3D graphics, audio
and video are produced, distributed, shared, managed and consumed on-line through various networks,
like the Internet, Fiber, WiFi, WiMAX, GPRS, 3G and so on, in a convergent manner [1]. This white
paper is the contribution of the Media Delivery Platform (MDP) cluster and aims to cover the Networked
challenges of the Networked Media in the transition to the Future of the Internet.
Internet has evolved and changed the way we work and live. End users of the Internet have been confronted
with a bewildering range of media, services and applications and of technological innovations concerning
media formats, wireless networks, terminal types and capabilities. And there is little evidence that the pace
of this innovation is slowing. Today, over one billion of users access the Internet on regular basis, more
than 100 million users have downloaded at least one (multi)media file and over 47 millions of them do so
regularly, searching in more than 160 Exabytes1 of content. In the near future these numbers are expected
to exponentially rise. It is expected that the Internet content will be increased by at least a factor of 6, rising
to more than 990 Exabytes before 2012, fuelled mainly by the users themselves. Moreover, it is envisaged
that in a near- to mid-term future, the Internet will provide the means to share and distribute (new)
multimedia content and services with superior quality and striking flexibility, in a trusted and personalized
way, improving citizens’ quality of life, working conditions, edutainment and safety.
In this evolving environment, new transport protocols, new multimedia encoding schemes, cross-layer inthe
network adaptation, machine-to-machine communication (including RFIDs), rich 3D content as well as
community networks and the use of peer-to-peer (P2P) overlays are expected to generate new models of
interaction and cooperation, and be able to support enhanced perceived quality-of-experience (PQoE) and
innovative applications “on the move”, like virtual collaboration environments, personalised services/
media, virtual sport groups, on-line gaming, edutainment. In this context, the interaction with content
combined with interactive/multimedia search capabilities across distributed repositories, opportunistic P2P
networks and the dynamic adaptation to the characteristics of diverse mobile terminals are expected to
contribute towards such a vision.
Based on work that has taken place in a number of EC co-funded projects, in Framework Program 6 (FP6)
and Framework Program 7 (FP7), a group of experts and technology visionaries have voluntarily
contributed in this white paper aiming to describe the status, the state-of-the art, the challenges and the way
ahead in the area of Content Aware media delivery platforms

Peer-to-peer (p2p) networks have gained immense popularity in recent years and the number of services they provide continuously rises. Where p2p-networks were formerly known as file-sharing networks, p2p is now also used for services like VoIP and IPTV.
