Building Confidential and Efficient Query Services in the Cloud with RASP Data Perturbation
With the wide deployment of public cloud computing infrastructures, using
clouds to host data query services has become an appealing solution for the
advantages on scalability and cost-saving. However, some data might be
sensitive that the data owner does not want to move to the cloud unless the
data confidentiality and query privacy are guaranteed. On the other hand, a
secured query service should still provide efficient query processing and
significantly reduce the in-house workload to fully realize the benefits of
cloud computing. We propose the RASP data perturbation method to provide secure
and efficient range query and kNN query services for protected data in the
cloud. The RASP data perturbation method combines order preserving encryption,
dimensionality expansion, random noise injection, and random projection, to
provide strong resilience to attacks on the perturbed data and queries. It also
preserves multidimensional ranges, which allows existing indexing techniques to
be applied to speedup range query processing. The kNN-R algorithm is designed
to work with the RASP range query algorithm to process the kNN queries. We have
carefully analyzed the attacks on data and queries under a precisely defined
threat model and realistic security assumptions. Extensive experiments have
been conducted to show the advantages of this approach on efficiency and
security.Comment: 18 pages, to appear in IEEE TKDE, accepted in December 201
A Range Query Algorithm to Process KNN Queries in Cloud Computing
In Public Cloud environment, security and data confidentiality is the major problem facing by all the data controller. The service user can take the service from the cloud by getting authorization from the service provider and he can only pay for the service by using the server, for that the service provider lose the control so there may have chances of leaking the information. For that reason the data controller does not want the data to shift to the Cloud. There may have only chance of storing the data is providing the privacy gurantee to the Cloud. The requirement to building privacy is based on CPEL criteria which is confidentiality, privacy, efficiency, low in-house processing cost. By satisfying these requirement will increase the difficulty to store data in the Cloud. In order to eliminate this problem, We are using Random Space Perturbation method for providing the security and efficiency for processing the data. This method is used to building a practical query services in the Cloud. This approach will balance all the requirements by using range query and KNN query services. It provides multifaceted distances , which allows actual listing techniques to increase distances processing.

Confidential Machine Learning on Untrusted Platforms: a Survey
With the ever-growing data and the need for developing powerful machine learning models, data owners increasingly depend on various untrusted platforms (e.g., public clouds, edges, and machine learning service providers) for scalable processing or collaborative learning. Thus, sensitive data and models are in danger of unauthorized access, misuse, and privacy compromises. A relatively new body of research confidentially trains machine learning models on protected data to address these concerns. In this survey, we summarize notable studies in this emerging area of research. With a unified framework, we highlight the critical challenges and innovations in outsourcing machine learning confidentially. We focus on the cryptographic approaches for confidential machine learning (CML), primarily on model training, while also covering other directions such as perturbation-based approaches and CML in the hardware-assisted computing environment. The discussion will take a holistic way to consider a rich context of the related threat models, security assumptions, design principles, and associated trade-offs amongst data utility, cost, and confidentiality
An effective approach for the protection of privacy text data in the CloudDB
© 2017, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC. Due to the advantages of pay-on-demand, expand-on-demand and high availability, cloud databases (CloudDB) have been widely used in information systems. However, since a CloudDB is distributed on an untrusted cloud side, it is an important problem how to effectively protect massive private information in the CloudDB. Although traditional security strategies (such as identity authentication and access control) can prevent illegal users from accessing unauthorized data, they cannot prevent internal users at the cloud side from accessing and exposing personal privacy information. In this paper, we propose a client-based approach to protect personal privacy in a CloudDB. In the approach, privacy data before being stored into the cloud side, would be encrypted using a traditional encryption algorithm, so as to ensure the security of privacy data. To execute various kinds of query operations over the encrypted data efficiently, the encrypted data would be also augmented with additional feature index, so that as much of each query operation as possible can be processed on the cloud side without the need to decrypt the data. To this end, we explore how the feature index of privacy data is constructed, and how a query operation over privacy data is transformed into a new query operation over the index data so that it can be executed on the cloud side correctly. The effectiveness of the approach is demonstrated by theoretical analysis and experimental evaluation. The results show that the approach has good performance in terms of security, usability and efficiency, thus effective to protect personal privacy in the CloudDB
