Regularly Controlled Bidirectional Linear Basic Grammars
We investigate the bidirectional application of grammar productions -- i.e., using the productions in the reversed direction too -- to linear basic grammars. As in the case of regularly controlled bidirectional context-free grammars (or RCB grammars), we provide bidirectional linear basic grammars with a regular control language over the rules (i.e., productions and their corresponding reductions). Our main result shows that under the so-called RS/B/f-mode of derivation, bidirectionality gives rise to a dramatic increase in generating power compared with (regularly controlled unidirectional) linear basic grammars.\ud

Design and control of a bidirectional wireless charging system using GaN devices
Most of the existing wireless power transfer system works in unidirectional with one-direction control signals. This paper presents a bidirectional wireless charging system with duplex communication method, which is not only able to achieve the two-way wireless power transmission, but also transfer control signals bi-directionally. The power circuit operation mode is actively controlled by using the wireless transceiver module which can duplex communication to deliver measured signals remotely. The operational principle is analytically studied in details and is verified by simulation. Finally, a prototype of the bidirectional charging system using GaN devices has been successfully designed and tested. In addition, the measured feedback signals are effectively transmitted to validate the control algorithm
Inhibitory control as a mediator of bidirectional effects between early oppositional behavior and maternal depression.
Maternal depression is an established risk factor for child conduct problems, but relatively few studies have tested whether children's behavioral problems exacerbate mothers' depression or whether other child behavioral characteristics (e.g., self-regulation) may mediate bidirectional effects between maternal depression and child disruptive behavior. This longitudinal study examined the parallel growth of maternal depressive symptoms and child oppositional behavior from ages 2 to 5; the magnitude and timing of their bidirectional effects; and whether child inhibitory control, a temperament-based self-regulatory mechanism, mediated effects between maternal depression and child oppositionality. A randomized control trial of 731 at-risk families assessed children annually from ages 2 to 5. Transactional models demonstrated positive and bidirectional associations between mothers' depressive symptoms and children's oppositional behavior from ages 2 to 3, with a less consistent pattern of reciprocal relations up to age 5. Mediation of indirect mother-child effects and child evocative effects depended on the rater of children's inhibitory control. Findings are discussed in regard to how child evocative effects and self-regulatory mechanisms may clarify the transmission of psychopathology within families
Environmental control of microtubule-based bidirectional cargo-transport
Inside cells, various cargos are transported by teams of molecular motors.
Intriguingly, the motors involved generally have opposite pulling directions,
and the resulting cargo dynamics is a biased stochastic motion. It is an open
question how the cell can control this bias. Here we develop a model which
takes explicitly into account the elastic coupling of the cargo with each
motor. We show that bias can be simply controlled or even reversed in a
counterintuitive manner via a change in the external force exerted on the cargo
or a variation of the ATP binding rate to motors. Furthermore, the
superdiffusive behavior found at short time scales indicates the emergence of
motor cooperation induced by cargo-mediated coupling
