Analytical modeling of D2D communications over cellular networks

    No full text
This paper studies the impact of a device-to-device (D2D) communication on the downlink coverage of an overlaid cellular network. To limit the interference created by D2D users, and other base stations, typically power control is adopted counteracting the path loss and shadowing effects in each link. However this does not prevent cellular user from experiencing coverage limitation. Therefore we develop an analytical model to characterize the coverage probability of cellular networks in the presence of a D2D link accounting for shadowing, power control and users random locations. We assume the deployment of base stations and mobile stations are based on a Poisson point process. Finally, to validate our model, we compare our theoretical analysis with simulation results
