Quantum ergodicity for graphs related to interval maps
We prove quantum ergodicity for a family of graphs that are obtained from
ergodic one-dimensional maps of an interval using a procedure introduced by
Pakonski et al (J. Phys. A, v. 34, 9303-9317 (2001)). As observables we take
the L^2 functions on the interval. The proof is based on the periodic orbit
expansion of a majorant of the quantum variance. Specifically, given a
one-dimensional, Lebesgue-measure-preserving map of an interval, we consider an
increasingly refined sequence of partitions of the interval. To this sequence
we associate a sequence of graphs, whose directed edges correspond to elements
of the partitions and on which the classical dynamics approximates the
Perron-Frobenius operator corresponding to the map. We show that, except
possibly for subsequences of density 0, the eigenstates of the quantum graphs
equidistribute in the limit of large graphs. For a smaller class of observables
we also show that the Egorov property, a correspondence between classical and
quantum evolution in the semiclassical limit, holds for the quantum graphs in

Inverse problems of symbolic dynamics
This paper reviews some results regarding symbolic dynamics, correspondence
between languages of dynamical systems and combinatorics. Sturmian sequences
provide a pattern for investigation of one-dimensional systems, in particular
interval exchange transformation. Rauzy graphs language can express many
important combinatorial and some dynamical properties. In this case
combinatorial properties are considered as being generated by substitutional
system, and dynamical properties are considered as criteria of superword being
generated by interval exchange transformation. As a consequence, one can get a
morphic word appearing in interval exchange transformation such that
frequencies of letters are algebraic numbers of an arbitrary degree.
Concerning multydimensional systems, our main result is the following. Let

A Triclustering Approach for Time Evolving Graphs
This paper introduces a novel technique to track structures in time evolving
graphs. The method is based on a parameter free approach for three-dimensional
co-clustering of the source vertices, the target vertices and the time. All
these features are simultaneously segmented in order to build time segments and
clusters of vertices whose edge distributions are similar and evolve in the
same way over the time segments. The main novelty of this approach lies in that
the time segments are directly inferred from the evolution of the edge
distribution between the vertices, thus not requiring the user to make an a
priori discretization. Experiments conducted on a synthetic dataset illustrate
the good behaviour of the technique, and a study of a real-life dataset shows
the potential of the proposed approach for exploratory data analysis
First-Fit is Linear on Posets Excluding Two Long Incomparable Chains
A poset is (r + s)-free if it does not contain two incomparable chains of
size r and s, respectively. We prove that when r and s are at least 2, the
First-Fit algorithm partitions every (r + s)-free poset P into at most
8(r-1)(s-1)w chains, where w is the width of P. This solves an open problem of
