Context modeling and constraints binding in web service business processes
Context awareness is a principle used in pervasive services
applications to enhance their exibility and adaptability to
changing conditions and dynamic environments. Ontologies
provide a suitable framework for context modeling and reasoning. We develop a context model for executable business processes { captured as an ontology for the web services domain. A web service description is attached to a service context profile, which is bound to the context ontology. Context instances can be generated dynamically at services runtime and are bound to context constraint services. Constraint services facilitate both setting up constraint properties and constraint checkers, which determine the dynamic validity of context instances. Data collectors focus on capturing context instances. Runtime integration of both constraint services and data collectors permit the business process to achieve dynamic business goals
Composing Web-service-like abstract state machines (ASM)
The presentation provides an overview on semi-automatic design of Collaborative Business Processes for B2B/EAI integration in the EU project FUSION. The introduced Enterprise Application Integration Ontology and a mediator-based run-time architecture for CBPs integrating heterogeneous web services enabled enterprise systems build the corner stones of the FUSION solution. The functionality and the building blocks of the Collaborative Business Process Designer are discussed in detail. The talk provides then an example demonstrating initial ideas for generating an executable collaborative business process out of a CBP template automatically
Towards an ontology for process monitoring and mining
Business Process Analysis (BPA) aims at monitoring, diagnosing, simulating and mining enacted processes in order to support the analysis and enhancement of process models. An effective BPA solution must provide the means for analysing existing e-businesses at three levels of abstraction: the Business Level, the Process Level and the IT Level. BPA requires semantic information that spans these layers of abstraction and which should be easily retrieved from audit trails. To cater for this, we describe the Process Mining Ontology and the Events Ontology which aim to support the analysis of enacted processes at different levels of abstraction spanning from fine grain technical details to coarse grain aspects at the Business Level
Feasibility of EPC to BPEL Model Transformations Based on Ontology and Patterns
Model-Driven Engineering holds the promise of transforming\ud
business models into code automatically. This requires the concept of\ud
model transformation. In this paper, we assess the feasibility of model\ud
transformations from Event-driven Process Chain models to Business\ud
Process Execution Language specifications. To this purpose, we use a\ud
framework based on ontological analysis and workflow patterns in order\ud
to predict the possibilities/limitations of such a model transformation.\ud
The framework is validated by evaluating the transformation of several\ud
models, including a real-life case.\ud
The framework indicates several limitations for transformation. Eleven\ud
guidelines and an approach to apply them provide methodological support\ud
to improve the feasibility of model transformation from EPC to\ud
BPEL
Translating semantic web service based business process models
We describe a model-driven translation approach between Semantic Web Service based business process models in the context of the SUPER project. In SUPER we provide a set of business process ontologies for enabling access to the business process space inside the organisation at the semantic level. One major task in this context is to handle the translations between the provided ontologies in order to navigate from different views at the business level to the IT view at the execution level. In this paper we present the results of our translation approach, which transforms instances of BPMO to instances of sBPEL
Quality-aware model-driven service engineering
Service engineering and service-oriented architecture as an integration and platform technology is a recent approach to software systems integration. Quality aspects
ranging from interoperability to maintainability to performance are of central importance for the integration of heterogeneous, distributed service-based systems. Architecture models can substantially influence quality attributes of the implemented software systems. Besides the benefits of explicit architectures on maintainability and reuse, architectural constraints such as styles, reference architectures and architectural patterns can influence observable software properties such as performance. Empirical performance evaluation is a process of measuring and evaluating the performance of implemented software. We present an approach for addressing the quality of services and service-based systems at the model-level in the context of model-driven service engineering.
