Amplified spontaneous emission pulses for high-power supercontinuum generation

The authors demonstrate an incoherent light source based on a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier as pump for high-power supercontinuum generation for the first time. The obtained power level is about 160 mW and 20 dB spectral bandwidth is around 170 nm
