    An Intelligent Knowledge Management System from a Semantic Perspective

    Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) are important tools by which organizations can better use information and, more importantly, manage knowledge. Unlike other strategies, knowledge management (KM) is difficult to define because it encompasses a range of concepts, management tasks, technologies, and organizational practices, all of which come under the umbrella of the information management. Semantic approaches allow easier and more efficient training, maintenance, and support knowledge. Current ICT markets are dominated by relational databases and document-centric information technologies, procedural algorithmic programming paradigms, and stack architecture. A key driver of global economic expansion in the coming decade is the build-out of broadband telecommunications and the deployment of intelligent services bundling. This paper introduces the main characteristics of an Intelligent Knowledge Management System as a multiagent system used in a Learning Control Problem (IKMSLCP), from a semantic perspective. We describe an intelligent KM framework, allowing the observer (a human agent) to learn from experience. This framework makes the system dynamic (flexible and adaptable) so it evolves, guaranteeing high levels of stability when performing his domain problem P. To capture by the agent who learn the control knowledge for solving a task-allocation problem, the control expert system uses at any time, an internal fuzzy knowledge model of the (business) process based on the last knowledge model.knowledge management, fuzzy control, semantic technologies, computational intelligence

    Multi-Criteria Service Selection Agent for Federated Cloud

    Federated cloud interconnects small and medium-sized cloud service providers for service enhancement to meet demand spikes. The service bartering technique in the federated cloud enables service providers to exchange their services. Selecting an optimal service provider to share services is challenging in the cloud federation. Agent-based and Reciprocal Resource Fairness (RRF) based models are used in the federated cloud for service selection. The agent-based model selects the best service provider using Quality of Service (quality of service). RRF model chooses fair service providers based on service providers\u27 previous service contribution to the federation. However, the models mentioned above fail to address free rider and poor performer problems during the service provider selection process. To solve the above issue, we propose a Multi-criteria Service Selection (MCSS) algorithm for effectively selecting a service provider using quality of service, Performance-Cost Ratio (PCR), and RRF. Comprehensive case studies are conducted to prove the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. Extensive simulation experiments are conducted to compare the proposed algorithm performance with the existing algorithm. The evaluation results demonstrated that MCSS provides 10% more services selection efficiency than Cloud Resource Bartering System (CRBS) and provides 16% more service selection efficiency than RPF

    Improving the performance of web service recommenders using semantic similarity

    This paper addresses issues related to recommending Semantic Web Services (SWS) using collaborative filtering (CF). The focus is on reducing the problems arising from data sparsity, one of the main difficulties for CF algorithms. Two CF algorithms are presented and discussed: a memory-based algorithm, using the k-NN method, and a model-based algorithm, using the k-means method. In both algorithms, similarity between users is computed using the Pearson Correlation Coefficient (PCC). One of the limitations of using the PCC in this context is that in those instances where users have not rated items in common it is not possible to compute their similarity. In addition, when the number of common items that were rated is low, the reliability of the computed similarity degree may also be low. To overcome these limitations, the presented algorithms compute the similarity between two users taking into account services that both users accessed and also semantically similar services. Likewise, to predict the rating for a not yet accessed target service, the algorithms consider the ratings that neighbor users assigned to the target service, as is normally the case, while also considering the ratings assigned to services that are semantically similar to the target service. The experiments described in the paper show that this approach has a significantly positive impact on prediction accuracy, particularly when the user-item matrix is sparse.Facultad de Informátic

    Methods and algorithms for service selection and recommendation (preference and aggregation based)

    In order for service users to get the best service that meets their requirements, they prefer to personalize their non-functional attributes, such as reliability and price. However, the personalization makes it challenging because service providers have to deal with conflicting non-functional attributes when selecting services for users. In addition, users may sometimes want to explicitly specify their trade-offs among non-functional attributes to make their preferences known to service providers. Typically, users\u27 service search requests with conflicting non-functional attributes may result in a ranked list of services that partially meet their needs. When this happens, it is natural for users to submit other similar requests, with varying preferences on non-functional attributes, in an attempt to find services that fully meet their needs. This situation produces a challenge for the users to choose an optimal service based on their preferences, from the multiple ranked lists that partially satisfy their request. Existing memory-based collaborative filtering (CF) service recommendation methods that employ this recommendation technique usually depend on non-functional attribute values obtained at service invocation to compute the similarity between users or items, and also to predict missing non-functional attributes. However, this approach is not sufficient because the non-functional attribute values of invoked services may not necessarily satisfy their personalized preferences. The main contributions of this work are threefold. First, a novel service selection method, which is based on fuzzy logic, that considers users\u27 personalized preferences and their trade-offs on non-functional attributes during service selection is presented. Second, a method that aggregates multiple ranked lists of services into a single aggregated ranked list, where top ranked services are selected for the user is also presented. Two algorithms were proposed: 1) Rank Aggregation for Complete Lists (RACoL), that aggregates complete ranked lists and 2) Rank Aggregation for Incomplete Lists (RAIL) to aggregate incomplete ranked lists. Finally, a CF-based service recommendation method that considers users\u27 personalized preference on non-functional attributes if proposed.
