Web 2.0 offers great tools for building better customer relationships, improving employees’ productivity, and cutting costs. Results of different international research showed that many companies recognize the benefits of Web 2.0 technologies and use it in everyday business. But what is the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina?!In order to investigate that, empirical research was conducted. The objective was to investigate whether Web 2.0 technologies are applied in companies and institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and which ones. The paper presents the results of research among 107 companies and institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the current application of Web 2.0 technologies in business. The results show that 49.5% of respondents use Web 2.0, mostly Internet telephony and Business social networks, while 31.7% of respondents who do not use it, plan to start using some of it in the next year. Although the results show that Web 2.0 technologies are not totally unknown in Bosnia and Herzegovina (at least some of it), there is much room for improvement. Further research should investigate what hinders the implementation of Web 2.0 technologies and particularly address the characteristics of the companies and institutions that may significantly affect their acceptance and implementation. The objective of the study was to explore the barriers or the reasons behind the insufficient use of Web 2.0 technology in companies. The empirical research was conducted among managers in companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina during 2015. The results indicate that managers see information technology infrastructure (department size, technology implementation costs) and computer illiteracy as the main barriers to intensified use of Web 2.0 technology in business. The least relevant obstacles are related to the lack of support from, and the inability to protect the data privacy and integrity in an adequate manner. The results indicate that significant efforts to promote the benefits that Web 2.0 technology brings to the business are needed, which would, in turn, significantly affect the perception of their disadvantages

In this work, some fundamental topics of interdisciplinary thought are discussed, besides presenting two elementary theories, namely: general systems theory and second-order cybernetic theory. Such theoretical approach had the purpose of briefly explaining the main topics founding interdisciplinarity in order to clarify the importance of both thinking and the holistic attitude of humanity. Subsequently, the discussion regarding the social media currently available was held. The researchers explained about the potential for collaboration, interaction, socialization and sharing of data, information and knowledge via technological devices. Aiming to present the similarities of the two areas, this bibliographical research assumed a theoretical character, with a qualitative and exploratory approach, which pointed towards the understanding of current media as practical applications of systemic and interdisciplinary thinking. Topics such as interaction, feedback, homeostasis and equifinality were observed within the presented outline, which leads to the conclusion of the belonging of social media within the interdisciplinary spectrum. The principles brought by Bertalanffy and Foerster are present in the dynamics of Social Web and can be clearly observed in social media. Such resources are also seen as mediators of specific ecosystems and potential arenas for the creation, organization and sharing of information and knowledge; Collaboration and interaction are fundamental parts when it comes to the experience of a community to create a favorable context for sharing and creating new information and knowledge.

Universities worldwide are transitioning to integrate technology to enhance and augment using E-learning. This study investigated attitudes of Saudi Arabian students toward the use of digital libraries in higher education at Taibah University in Madina. Data were collected to explore the relationship between Saudi students’ computer literacy skills, as well as their demographic background, and 1) their use of digital libraries, 2) their attitudes toward digital libraries, and 3) their perceived usability of digital libraries. Descriptive statistics, independent-samples , simple and multiple linear regression analyses were conducted to address the research questions. Participants were 240 undergraduate students enrolled at Taibah University. Most of them were senior (about 52%), female (about 62%), and majored in Education Science (about 47%). Analyses of the self-report survey data show that students used digital libraries on a weekly basis (M = 3.52, SD = 1.45), using a 6-point Likert-scale (1 = Never and 6 = More than 4 times per day). Results also show that students’ computer literacy skills were pretty good (M = 3.82, SD = 0.88), based on a 5-point Likert-scale (1 = No experience and 5 = Very skilled). On average, students’ attitudes toward digital libraries were positive (M = 4.21, SD = .68), measured by a 5-point Likert-scale (1 = Strongly disagree and 5 = Strongly agree). In general, the level of students’ perceived usability of digital libraries was moderate (M = 3.34, SD = .49), according to a 5-point Likert-scale (1 = Strongly disagree and 5 = Strongly agree). Results of linear regression and independent-samples show that students’ computer literacy skills were a significant predictor of their use of digital libraries, attitudes toward digital libraries, and perceived usability of digital libraries. The more skilled students were in computer literacy, the more likely they would use digital libraries (β = .299, t(221) = 2.57, p = .01); the more skilled they were in computer literacy, the more positive their attitudes were toward digital libraries (β = .201, t(225) = 3.70, p <. 001); and the more skilled they were in computer literacy, the higher the level of the perceived usability of digital libraries was (β = .115, t(202) = 2.99, p = .003). Only the access to technology and the Internet at school was significantly and positively related to students’ attitudes toward digital libraries. No relationships were found between the access to technology and the Internet (either at school or at home) and students’ use of digital libraries or their perceived usability of digital libraries. Regarding the impact of students’ demographic background on the three dependent variables (i.e., students’ use of digital libraries, attitudes toward digital libraries, and perceived usability of digital libraries), only one significant relationship was found. That is, students’ perceived usability of digital libraries was significantly related to their gender. Female students had a higher level of perceived usability of digital libraries
