Seiberg-Witten period relations in Omega background
Omega-deformation of the Seiberg-Witten curve is known to be written in terms
of the qq-character, namely the trace of a specific operator acting in a
Hilbert space spanned by certain Young diagrams. We define a differential form
acting on this space and establish two discretised versions of the
Seiberg-Witten expressions for the periods and related relations for the
prepotential.Comment: 19 pages, 1 figur
Aristotle on Virtue of Character and the Authority of Reason
I argue that, for Aristotle, virtue of character is a state of the non-rational part of the soul that makes one prone to making and acting on decisions in virtue of that part’s standing in the right relation to (correct) reason, namely, a relation that qualifies the agent as a true self-lover. In effect, this central feature of virtue of character is nothing else than love of practical wisdom. As I argue, it not only explains how reason can hold direct authority over non-rational desires but also why Aristotle defines virtue of character as hexis prohairetikē
Teaching Virtual Characters to use Body Language
Non-verbal communication, or “body language”, is a critical component in constructing believable virtual characters. Most often, body language is implemented by a set of ad-hoc rules. We propose a new method for authors to specify and refine their character’s body-language responses. Using our method, the author watches the character acting in a situation, and provides simple feedback on-line. The character then learns to use its body language to maximize the rewards, based on a reinforcement learning algorithm
Fascynacje. Peter Brook*

Beryl Reid Says... Good Evening: Performing Queer Identity on British Television
Beryl Reid Says… Good Evening was a comedy revue series broadcast on BBC television in the late 1960s which showcased the talents of a renowned British character comedy performer. Beryl Reid’s career spanned music hall, variety theatre, dramatic acting, radio comedy, film and television. She was a celebrity figure from the 1950s to her death in the 1990s but never became a ‘star’ as such. Reid’s work is addressed as a form of queer performance, both in roles which reference lesbian sexuality and roles which depict eccentric femininities. This television series was one of the few attempts to showcase her talents, and it is discussed here as an example of how character comedy queers heteronormativity through its camp attention to the everyday
DEWA RUCI DALAM TEATER TEDUNG AGUNG
This article is a brief description of a theatrical production that entitles Teater Tedung Agung, which was collaboratively produced by the Indonesian State Collage of Arts, Denpasar and an art director, Ms. Barbara Txi Hannah, visiting artist from Canada. About three dozen students and a dozen of faculty members of the college were involved to perform the production on the last March 29th, 2003. Enacting a philosophical theme of Dewaruci, this theatre integrated the traditional Wayang sahdow puppet show, contemporary arrangement of dance movements and choreography, and the realistic acting style. The well-known Mahabharata dramatic character, Bima, served as the protagonist character while the Korawa served as the antagonistic character. By transforming the ancient theme of Dewaruci into a child fiction, the production was hoped to instigate public awareness that physical developments in Bali are owned by foreigners, not Balinese
