In this case study, we illustrate the great potential of experimental mathematics and symbolic computation by rederiving, ab initio, Onsagers celebrated solution of the two-dimensional Ising model in zero magnetic field. Onsagers derivation is extremely complicated, as are all the subsequent proofs.
