    International audienceA security pattern describes a particular recurring securityproblem that arises in specific contexts and presents awell-proven generic solution for it. This paper describes anUntraceable Secret Handshake, a protocol that allows twousers to mutually verify another’s properties without revealingtheir identity. The complex security solution is split intosmaller parts which are described in an abstract way. Theidentified security problems and their solutions are capturedas SERENITY security patterns. The structured descriptiontogether with motivating scenarios makes the security solutionbetter understandable for non-security experts andhelps to disseminate the security knowledge to applicationdevelopers
