A Contribution to Secure the Routing Protocol "Greedy Perimeter Stateless Routing" Using a Symmetric Signature-Based AES and MD5 Hash
This work presents a contribution to secure the routing protocol GPSR (Greedy
Perimeter Stateless Routing) for vehicular ad hoc networks, we examine the
possible attacks against GPSR and security solutions proposed by different
research teams working on ad hoc network security. Then, we propose a solution
to secure GPSR packet by adding a digital signature based on symmetric
cryptography generated using the AES algorithm and the MD5 hash function more
suited to a mobile environment
A Lightweight and Attack Resistant Authenticated Routing Protocol for Mobile Adhoc Networks
In mobile ad hoc networks, by attacking the corresponding routing protocol,
an attacker can easily disturb the operations of the network. For ad hoc
networks, till now many secured routing protocols have been proposed which
contains some disadvantages. Therefore security in ad hoc networks is a
controversial area till now. In this paper, we proposed a Lightweight and
Attack Resistant Authenticated Routing Protocol (LARARP) for mobile ad hoc
networks. For the route discovery attacks in MANET routing protocols, our
protocol gives an effective security. It supports the node to drop the invalid
packets earlier by detecting the malicious nodes quickly by verifying the
digital signatures of all the intermediate nodes. It punishes the misbehaving
nodes by decrementing a credit counter and rewards the well behaving nodes by
incrementing the credit counter. Thus it prevents uncompromised nodes from
attacking the routes with malicious or compromised nodes. It is also used to
prevent the denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. The efficiency and effectiveness
of LARARP are verified through the detailed simulation studies.Comment: 14 Pages, IJWM
Knot Flow Classification and its Applications in Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks (VANET)
Intrusion detection systems (IDSs) play a crucial role in the identification and mitigation for attacks on host systems. Of these systems, vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) are difficult to protect due to the dynamic nature of their clients and their necessity for constant interaction with their respective cyber-physical systems. Currently, there is a need for a VANET-specific IDS that meets this criterion. To this end, a spline-based intrusion detection system has been pioneered as a solution. By combining clustering with spline-based general linear model classification, this knot flow classification method (KFC) allows for robust intrusion detection to occur. Due its design and the manner it is constructed, KFC holds great potential for implementation across a distributed system. The purpose of this thesis was to explain and extrapolate the afore mentioned IDS, highlight its effectiveness, and discuss the conceptual design of the distributed system for use in future research
Towards Cyber Security for Low-Carbon Transportation: Overview, Challenges and Future Directions
In recent years, low-carbon transportation has become an indispensable part
as sustainable development strategies of various countries, and plays a very
important responsibility in promoting low-carbon cities. However, the security
of low-carbon transportation has been threatened from various ways. For
example, denial of service attacks pose a great threat to the electric vehicles
and vehicle-to-grid networks. To minimize these threats, several methods have
been proposed to defense against them. Yet, these methods are only for certain
types of scenarios or attacks. Therefore, this review addresses security aspect
from holistic view, provides the overview, challenges and future directions of
cyber security technologies in low-carbon transportation. Firstly, based on the
concept and importance of low-carbon transportation, this review positions the
low-carbon transportation services. Then, with the perspective of network
architecture and communication mode, this review classifies its typical attack
risks. The corresponding defense technologies and relevant security suggestions
are further reviewed from perspective of data security, network management
security and network application security. Finally, in view of the long term
development of low-carbon transportation, future research directions have been
