Who said you can't teach an old librarian new tricks?

Abstract

Sometimes, we need more than a spreadsheet. This session will cover methods to create attractive and persuasive data visualizations using data exported from analyses created in Alma Analytics. Attendees can expect an introduction to multiple open-source Python libraries which make creating data visualizations swift and intuitive. The examples will include visualizations of data from Alma Analytics analyses of SUNY Maritime's print and electronic collections. All code will be created in Google Colab and demonstrated live so that attendees may follow along. After the session, attendees can expect to feel confident creating simple data visualizations to better communicate with faculty, colleagues, and administration. The level of instruction will be geared towards professionals who have little to no prior experience with Python, but all are welcome.SUNY Maritime CollegeLibraryye
