Camp Bowie Army maneuvers: First Platoon of Troop C, 113th Cavalry

Abstract

Camp Bowie Army maneuvers. First Platoon of Troop C, 113th Cavalry is pictured here. One of the first brushes occurred when this 113th Cavalry, was chased into woods by a superior force and became lost near Mullen, Texas. The platoon is shown here emerging from its temporary refuge. The cavalry is an Iowa National Guard unit attached to VIII Army Corps. A mechanized unit of the 113th ran into heavy artillery fire and was chased as far as Comanche. The unit is on horseback, dressed in uniforms. There appear to be 16 men total, a couple are smiling at the camera but most are expressionless. They are riding along a dirt road in the grass.
