The impact of artificial intelligence on teaching performance and mediation: critical and humanized education in times of technology: Artificial Intelligence, Teaching Practice and Mediation: a Critical and Humanized Approach to Contemporary Education

Abstract

O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar o papel da inteligência artificial (IA) na educação, considerando a mediação docente como elemento central para a promoção de uma educação crítica e humanizada. Parte-se da problematização acerca de como o professor pode atuar como mediador no uso dessas tecnologias, de modo a potencializar os processos de ensino e aprendizagem sem comprometer a formação humana e reflexiva dos estudantes. A pesquisa adota uma abordagem qualitativa, de caráter exploratório, desenvolvida por meio de revisão bibliográfica, com análise de produções acadêmicas que discutem a relação entre IA, educação e mediação pedagógica. Os achados indicam que a  IA, quando utilizada como ferramenta de apoio, pode contribuir para a personalização do ensino e para o enriquecimento das práticas pedagógicas. No entanto, evidencia-se que a presença ativa do professor é indispensável para orientar o uso ético, crítico e formativo dessas tecnologias. Conclui-se que a mediação docente constitui elemento fundamental para integrar a IA aos processos educativos de forma consciente, preservando a centralidade da dimensão humana na educação. Abstract: This study aims to analyze the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, considering teaching mediation as a central element to promote critical and humanized education. Start by questioning how teachers can act as mediators in the use of these technologies, in order to improve the teaching and learning processes without compromising the human and reflective development of the student. The investigation adopts a qualitative and exploratory approach, developed through a bibliographic review, with analysis of academic productions that address the relationship between AI, education and pedagogical mediation. The hallmarks indicate that AI, when used as a support tool, can contribute to the personalization of teaching and the enrichment of pedagogical practices. However, it is clear that the active presence of the teacher is indispensable to guide the ethical, critical and formative use of these technologies. It is concluded that teaching mediation is a fundamental element to integrate AI into educational processes in a conscious way, preserving the centrality of the human dimension in education. Comienza cuestionando cómo los docentes pueden actuar como mediadores en el uso de estas tecnologías, con el fin de mejorar los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje sin comprometer el desarrollo humano y reflexivo del alumnado. La investigación adopta un enfoque cualitativo y exploratorio, desarrollado a través de una revisión bibliográfica, con análisis de producciones académicas que abordan la relación entre IA, educación y mediación pedagógica. Los hallazgos indican que la IA, cuando se utiliza como herramienta de apoyo, puede contribuir a la personalización de la enseñanza y al enriquecimiento de las prácticas pedagógicas. Sin embargo, es evidente que la presencia activa del docente es indispensable para guiar el uso ético, crítico y formativo de estas tecnologías. Se concluye que la mediación docente es un elemento fundamental para integrar la IA en los procesos educativos de manera consciente, preservando la centralidad de la dimensión humana en la educación. Educación crítica.The present study analyzes the role of technologies based on Artificial Intelligence (AI), as a support tool in education, considering teaching mediation as an essential factor in balancing the use of technology with the critical development of students. The research investigated how teachers can promote critical and human learning in times of AI, questioning the extent to which technology can complement, without replacing, the pedagogical role. The central hypothesis is that teaching mediation is essential to adapt the use of this tool to educational needs, maintaining student autonomy and the humanization of teaching. The research adopts a qualitative and exploratory approach, based on a bibliographic review, which brings together recent academic publications on the use of AI in education, extracting concepts and results from studies related to the topic. The results indicated that this technological tool, when used as support, can enrich pedagogical practice. However, mediation that promotes conscious use and encourages the integral and critical training of students is essential. It is concluded that the role of the teacher is essential to integrate Artificial Intelligence in an ethical and formative way, aligning with the need for critical and humanized education
