Historia y algoritmos: el oficio del historiador en la digitalidad

Abstract

This article reflects on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on historical research, a phenomenon that demands a rethinking of the foundations of the discipline. It analyzes how AI—especially Large Language Models (LLM)—affects the historian's work by mediating access to sources and conditioning the mental image we form of the past (fa?tast????). Faced with the risk of obsolescence derived from automation, a dual methodical response is proposed. First, Historical Heuristics in Intangible Sources (HHIS), to critically interrogate algorithmic biases. Second, Historical Hermeneutics of Artificial Contexts (HHAC), aimed at constructing a narrative (d????s??) that integrates the human and the technological. It is concluded that intellectual control, interpretation, and ethics must always rest with the historian; AI must act as a complementary tool, without replacing the human capacities that give meaning to the knowledge of the past.Este artículo reflexiona sobre el impacto de la Inteligencia Artificial (IA) en la investigación histórica, fenómeno que exige repensar los fundamentos de la disciplina. Se analiza cómo la IA —especialmente los grandes modelos de lenguaje (LLM)- afecta el trabajo del historiador al mediar el acceso a las fuentes y condicionar la imagen mental del pasado (fa?tast????). Ante el riesgo de obsolescencia derivado de la automatización, se propone una respuesta metódica dual. Primero, la Heurística Histórica en Fuentes Intangibles (HHFI), para interrogar críticamente los sesgos algorítmicos. Segundo, la Hermenéutica Histórica de Contextos Artificiales (HHCA), orientada a construir una narrativa (d????s??) que integre lo humano y lo tecnológico. Se concluye que el control intelectual, la interpretación y la ética deben recaer siempre en el historiador; la IA debe actuar como herramienta complementaria, sin sustituir las capacidades humanas que otorgan sentido al conocimiento del pasado.RECIBIDO: Marzo 2026ACEPTADO: Abril 202
