Abstract

The African National Congress (ANC) has played a central role in South Africa's political history, from its founding in 1912 as a response to institutional racism to its leadership in the democratic transition of 1994. Using a historicalcritical approach and qualitative methodologies, this study examines the ANC's evolution from a resistance movement to a governing party. It highlights achievements such as the dismantling of apartheid and ongoing challenges like corruption and social discontent. The analysis assesses the ANC's influence in shaping a democratic nation and the obstacles it faces to sustain political legitimacy in the 21st centuryry.El Congreso Nacional Africano (CNA) ha sido clave en la historia política de Sudáfrica, desde su fundación en 1912 como respuesta al racismo institucional hasta su rol central en la transición democrática de 1994. Este análisis históricocrítico utiliza metodologías cualitativas para explorar su transformación de movimiento de resistencia a partido gobernante, destacando logros como la eliminación del apartheid y retos actuales como la corrupción y el descontento social.
