Hipotiroidismo felino reporte de caso clínico

Abstract

Felino macho, raza única, de 1 año y 8 meses de edad, que llega a consulta a la clínica veterinaria U.D.C.A. el 22 de abril de 2025 por presentar una cojera en el miembro posterior derecho la cual tiene un tiempo de evolución de 6 meses. Se evidenció que el felino está bajo de peso y es bastante pequeño para la edad que tiene, también se observaba letárgico y al momento de realizar el examen clínico y la toma de las constantes fisiológicas el paciente no mostraba ninguna alteración que normalmente puede presentar un paciente felino durante estas mediciones. Se manejaron como diagnósticos presuntivos, hipotiroidismo congénito primario, enfermedad periodontal grado I. Las ayudas diagnósticas incluyeron, radiografías, exámenes de laboratorio como triglicéridos, colesterol total, T4 total y TSH, los cuales revelaron una disminución de T4 y una elevación marcada de la TSH lo cual es sugerente de un hipotiroidismo en gatos, aunque es poco frecuente, se habló con el tutor para poderle iniciar el tratamiento con levotiroxina sódica Tabletas 150 mcg. Se habla con el tutor para agendar el próximo control, pero no es posible la comunicación, por lo tanto, no se sabe de la evolución del paciente.A 1 year 8-month-old male cat of a single breed, presented to the U.D.C.A. veterinary clinic on April 22, 2025, with lameness in the right hind limb, which had been present for 6 months. The cat was found to be underweight and quite small for its age. It also appeared lethargic. During the clinical examination and measurement of vital signs, the patient showed no abnormalities typically observed in felines during these measurements. The presumptive diagnoses were primary congenital hypothyroidism and stage I periodontal disease. Diagnostic aids included radiographs and laboratory tests such as triglycerides, total cholesterol, total T4, and TSH, which revealed a decrease in T4 and a marked elevation in TSH, suggestive of hypothyroidism in cats, although rare. The owner was contacted to initiate treatment with levothyroxine sodium tablets 150 mcg.
