Antonio de Nebrija y la Retórica: un primer acercamiento: Antonio de Nebrija and Rhetoric: an initial approach

Abstract

From the 15th century onwards, there was a renewed appreciation for Rhetoric, which was regarded as a key discipline within the studia humanitatis. Beyond his work as a grammaticus, Nebrija also served as Professor of Rhetoric at the University of Salamanca from 1509 to 1513, and at the University of Alcalá de Henares from 1513 until his death in 1522. This paper examines that other side of his intellectual activity, proposing a reexamination of some of his writings in order to determine to what extent those texts reflect the new ways of understanding the rhetorical disciplineA partir del siglo XV se asiste a una revalorización de la Retórica, que fue considerada una disciplina clave de los studia humanitatis. Más allá de su actividad como grammaticus, Nebrija fue también catedrático de Retórica en la Universidad de Salamanca de 1509 a 1513, y en la Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, de 1513 hasta su muerte en 1522. En este trabajo se revisa esa otra faceta suya con la propuesta de reexaminar algunos de sus escritos y comprobar hasta qué punto esos textos son deudores o no de las nuevas maneras de entender la disciplina retórica. &nbsp
