Mission and Moderated Mediation: How Stewardship Behaviors Influence Tithing

Abstract

Based on data from 5,907 respondents, a full mediation model revealed that belief in tithing negatively influences average tithe per capita only indirectly through non-tithing stewardship behaviors-- altruism and personal church engagement. This mediation effect was further moderated by “Stabilizers”, “Consolidators”, and first- or second-generation church members
