«Buscamos a Tehuel». Indumentaria disidente y la cuarta ola feminista en Buenos Aires: “We Are Looking for Tehuel.” Dissent Clothing and the Fourth Feminist Wave in Buenos Aires

Abstract

The fourth global feminist wave has its particular characteristics in Buenos Aires, where activisms, both territorial and hashtags, have crossed all areas of daily life and are promoted from diverse practices. To analyze the characteristics and complexities of the fourth wave, the article takes the case of Tehuel de la Torre—a trans boy who disappeared in 2021 when he was on his way to a job interview in Buenos Aires—and puts it into dialogue with Protesta, an undertaking that produces dissident clothing and carries out activist actions. Based on visits to Protesta’s workplace, interviews, and observations both online and offline, the text links empirical activist practices with contemporary feminist theoretical productions. As a result, the overlaps and tensions that are revealed between practice and theory in the fourth feminist wave in Buenos Aires are presented.La cuarta ola feminista global tiene sus características particulares en Buenos Aires, en donde los activismos —tanto territoriales como hashtag— han atravesado todos los ámbitos de la vida cotidiana y se impulsan desde prácticas diversas. Para analizar las singularidades y complejidades de la cuarta ola, el artículo toma el caso de Tehuel de la Torre —un chico trans que desapareció en 2021 cuando se dirigía a una entrevista laboral en Buenos Aires— y lo pone en diálogo con Protesta, un emprendimiento que produce indumentaria disidente y desarrolla acciones activistas. A partir de visitas al espacio laboral de Protesta, entrevistas y observaciones tanto online como offline, el texto pone en relación prácticas empíricas activistas con producciones teóricas feministas contemporáneas. Como resultado se presentan los solapamientos y las tensiones que se ponen de manifiesto entre práctica y teoría en la cuarta ola feminista local
