Chaos or harmony? Well-being in the perspective of managers of Polish enterprises – results of qualitative research

Abstract

Well-being is a topic increasingly explored in the context of the functioning of both employees themselves and entire organisations. This is because there is no doubt that the psychophysical condition, state of mind, life energy that a person has – their emotions and experiences – are what significantly affects the way they function at work and thus the quality and effectiveness of work, which ultimately translates into who the employee of today’s organisations is and what behaviour and attitudes at work they manifest. Which of their resources are their greatest strengths and which are their greatest weaknesses, and to what extent they can draw on them while realising themselves both professionally and privately. The purpose of this research is to investigate what the essence of well-being is in the opinion of managers of Polish companies and which aspects of psycho-physical functioning (positive and negative) are crucial to it. The paper presents the results of a qualitative study. A focus group interview (FGI) conducted in two separate panels was used. The first panel was attended by 8 managers – representatives of the so-called young generations (Generation Y and Z); the second panel consisted of managers of Generation X (8 people)
