O lugar das crônicas:: a literatura do cotidiano para a História

Abstract

The present text aims to promote a reflection on the interpretations of literature for historical studies, taking into account different ways of approaching literary sources. It presents a historiographical debate on the use of historical sources and historians' interpretations, and finally shifts the focus to chronicles—a type of literature often considered minor but which allows the historian to engage with the everyday life of the past. By addressing some basic questions regarding the use of literary sources, reflecting on the paths of history and literature as forms of telling/narrating the past, and discussing the relationship between reality and fiction, this text seeks to explore the potential of literature as a historical source. Furthermore, it focuses specifically on chronicles—texts written to be read in everyday life, found in the pages of daily newspapers to this day, and meant to be forgotten the next day. Yet, they preserve the daily life of the past and open doors for researchers interested in ordinary life.O presente texto tem por objetivo promover uma reflexão sobre as interpretações da literatura para os estudos históricos, levando em conta diferentes formas de olhar para a fonte literária. Assim, apresenta um debate historiográfico sobre o uso da fonte histórica e as interpretações dos historiadores para, enfim, voltar o foco para as crônicas, um tipo de literatura considerada menor, mas que possibilita ao historiador o contato com o cotidiano do passado. Apresentando algumas questões básicas para o trabalho com a fonte literária, reflexões sobre os caminhos da história e da literatura enquanto formas de contar/narrar o passado e discutindo as relações entre realidade e ficção esse texto procura discutir o potencial da literatura como fonte histórica. Além disso, dedica-se ao estudo específico das crônicas, textos escritos para serem lidos no dia a dia, presentes nas páginas dos jornais diários até hoje, e escritos para o esquecimento cotidiano, para serem superados na leitura do dia seguinte. Elas perenizam o cotidiano do passado e abrem portas para pesquisadores preocupados com a vida comum
