Abstract

The article characterises Władysław S. Reymont's provincial acting career and its literary representation in Komediantka. By referencing excerpts from the writer's correspondence and diary notes, the article highlights the similarities in experiences, emotions, and struggles of the unfulfilled actor and the novel's protagonist, Janka Orłowska. In the context of theoretical considerations related to the concept of the autobiographical triangle (M. Czermińska), the article explores the complex relationship between the author's biography (Reymont), the fictional character (Orłowska), and the novel’s self-narrative strategy. Within this “triangle,” numerous analogies emerge between the writer's biography and the life experiences of the aspiring stage performer, which in turn shape the depiction of the novel’s fictional reality.Artykuł skupia się na charakterystyce prowincjonalnej kariery aktorskiej W.S. Reymonta i jej literackiej reprezentacji ukazanej w Komediantce.
