Abstract

The article analyses the contemporary socialisation potential of postmodern fairy tales using the example of the series Wednesday, focusing on the relations between the world of magic and the world of humans. The use of qualitative content analysis allows for a multidimensional approach to the issue, showing how the series, by combining both worlds, encourages reflection on the formation of an individual’s identity in a socio-cultural context. The study of social hierarchies in Nevermore Academy and the town of Jericho allows for a broader understanding of the mechanisms of negotiating the characters’ positions and crossing the boundaries between reality and magic
