Abstract
La Vanilla rivasii es una especie endémica de Colombia con alto potencial económico debido a sus múltiples usos en diferentes campos. Sin embargo, su propagación natural es limitada, lo que hace necesaria la implementación de métodos biotecnológicos como la micropropagación “in vitro” para obtener un mayor número de plantas en menos tiempo.Vanilla rivasii is an endemic species of Colombia with high economic potential due to its multiple
applications in various fields. However, its natural propagation is limited, making it necessary to
implement biotechnological methods such as in vitro micropropagation to obtain a greater
number of plants in less time.
During the internship, the effect of different culture media and light conditions on the in vitro
germination of Vanilla rivasii seeds was evaluated. After 150 days of sowing, only the Murashige
and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with coconut watershowed positive germination results.
Seeds exposed to blue LED light responded favorably, while those grown in the dark did not
germinate, demonstrating the importance of light in the micropropagation process. Although the
viability of this method for large-scale plant production was demonstrated, the results also
revealed a high level of contamination in the culture media, which represents a significant
limitation to be addressed in future studies.INTRODUCCIÓN
