    Abstract

    The aim of this study is to present a new work by Luisa Roldán and to advance in the definition of one of her most recurrent iconographic archetypes: the representation of Saint Joseph holding the child Jesus in his arms. It also attempts to describe some of the differences between her Andalusian interpretations of this theme and those she produced in Madrid during her time as the King’s sculptor.El objetivo de esta varia es dar a conocer una nueva obra de Luisa Roldán y avanzar en la definición de uno de sus arquetipos iconográficos más recurrentes: la representación de San José sosteniendo al niño Jesús en sus brazos. Se intentan también en este trabajo describir algunas diferencias entre sus interpretaciones andaluzas de este tema y las que realiza en Madrid durante su etapa como Escultora del rey
