Personal computer management at the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana

Abstract

The Institute of Oncology has a very extensive information system that needs to be constantly updated. There are many users as well as computers. The problem addressed in this thesis was the replacement of Windows 7 operating systems with Windows 10. We assumed that this upgrade would resolve several issues, both security-related and others. This transition would optimize the work of employees as well as IT staff. During the course of this thesis, we explored various shortcuts and programs that could simplify the process. First, we identified all computers running the old operating system, then determined their locations within the Oncology Institute and who was using them. After this assessment, we prepared a package of necessary programs to facilitate the transition, ensuring that users could continue their work seamlessly. We also demonstrated system settings used by IT staff at The Institute of Oncology to optimize computer performance. Finally, we described the process of replacing computers, organizing the workspace, managing cables, and transferring data
