Abstract

Objetive. To determine the frequency of COVID-19 in post-vaccinated people with the Comirnaty® vaccine, Pfizer BioNTech, in personnel assigned to a second level hospital in the state of Chiapas, Mexico. Materials and methods. Study with a cross-sectional epidemiological design, where a survey was applied to a representative sample made up of 254 people assigned to the Chiapas Nos Une Hospital “Dr. Jesús Gilberto Gómez Maza”, in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, Mexico, which included those who received the basic scheme with the Comirnaty® vaccine, Pfizer BioNTech. The statistical analysis was performed in SPSS v. 25. Results. The average age of the participants was 38.8 years (SD= 9.468), 55.5% were women, 22.4% had normal weight according to BMI, 18.5% had some comorbidity, 75.2% were personnel who are in contact with patients. Of these, 61.7% became ill with Covid-19 after receiving the first dose of the vaccine and 9.7% had a severe form of the disease. 49.1% became ill after the second dose of the vaccine, and 3.7% had a severe form of the disease. The variables presence of concomitant disease and history of having become ill after the first vaccine were associated with becoming ill with Covid-19 after receiving the second dose of the vaccine. Conclusions. Regardless of the characteristics of the vaccinated subject and, of course, the variant or variants with which they had contact, immunization with the basic scheme continued to be high against serious illness, hospitalization or death.
