¿Qué pasa cuando delegamos la toma de decisiones a la inteligencia artificial? Una reflexión desde la bioética

Abstract

Purpose: Artificial Intelligence – AI and its development have generated many bioethical implications in the lives of individuals and in the transformations of the spheres of society such as: political, social, economic, cultural. This has highlighted the need for a debate from bioethics that contemplates its impact on principles such as justice, privacy, the right to information, transparency, responsibility and others that arise to the extent that Artificial Intelligence is everywhere and is part of our daily lives. Content development: One of the most deliberative approaches is What happens when we delegate decision-making to Artificial Intelligence?, in this sense, it is based on the premise that the human being has the ability to discern, to reason which allows him to connect some ideas with others and establish the difference between a right or wrong act, and after that, the ability to reflect, deliberate and finally decide. Additionally, after his decision, the human being is responsible for his actions and can give reasons for the decisions made and their implications. However, as some authors have pointed out, machines respond to patterns of behavior based on algorithms, which, although they may have agency, it is not possible for them to have for now, the capacity for agency and moral conscience, that is, the ability to explain decisions is not only a part of the naturalness of human beings\u27 communication but it is also a moral requirement. Conclusions: The use of technology is promulgated as the solution to situations of social justice and as an alternative to reorganize societies, however, in this transition the opposite effect can occur, that is, exacerbating existing vulnerabilities or generating new ones that are difficult to counteract and this becomes the great bioethical challenge.Propósito: la inteligencia artificial (IA) y su desarrollo han generado muchas implicaciones bioéticas en la vida de los individuos y en las transformaciones de los ámbitos de la sociedad, tales como: político, social, económico y cultural. Lo anterior ha puesto de manifiesto la necesidad del debate desde la Bioética, que contemple su impacto en principios como justicia, privacidad, derecho a la información, transparencia, responsabilidad y otros que surgen en la medida en que la IA está en todas partes y hace parte de nuestra cotidianidad. Desarrollo de contenidos: uno de los planteamientos más deliberativos es: ¿qué pasa cuando se delega la toma de decisiones a la IA?, en este sentido, se parte de la premisa que el ser humano tiene la capacidad de discernir y de razonar lo cual le permite conectar unas ideas con otras y establecer la diferencia entre un acto correcto y uno incorrecto, y posterior a ello, la capacidad de reflexionar, deliberar y finalmente decidir. Adicionalmente, luego de su decisión, el ser humano es responsable de sus acciones y puede dar razones de las decisiones tomadas y de las implicaciones de las mismas; sin embargo, como lo han referido algunos autores, las máquinas responden a patrones de comportamiento, cuya base son algoritmos, que, aunque pueden tener agencia, no es posible que tengan por ahora, la capacidad de agencia y la conciencia moral, es decir, la capacidad de explicar decisiones no es solo una parte de la naturalidad de la comunicación de los seres humanos, sino que también es una exigencia moral. Conclusiones: el uso de tecnología se promulga como la solución a situaciones de justicia social y como alternativa para reorganizar las sociedades, sin embargo, en ese tránsito puede ocurrir el efecto contrario, es decir, exacerbar vulnerabilidades existentes o generar otras nuevas que sean difíciles de contrarrestar y esto se convierte en el gran reto y desafío bioético
