Difference in Leibniz and the philosophical canon

Abstract

This article begins with the question raised by Lisa Shapiro regarding the writing of the canon of the history of modern philosophy. It then evaluates Leibniz\u27s place in this narrative. To this end, the work primarily considers Gilles Deleuze\u27s reflections on Leibnizian philosophy, which reveal the existence, in Leibniz, of a conceptual framework distinct from what is typically associated with his position in the commonly told history of modern philosophy.The conclusion indicates how recovering this other Leibniz, with different problems and solutions, can, in the sense of Walter Benjamin\u27s historical materialism, open both the past and the present of philosophy to the construction of a new history.Este artigo parte da questão discutida por Lisa Shapiro a respeito da escrita do cânone da história da filosofia moderna. Busca-se, então, avaliar qual é o lugar que Leibniz ocupa nessa narrativa. Nessa direção, são consideradas, sobretudo, as reflexões sobre a filosofia leibniziana de Gilles Deleuze,as quais evidenciam a existência, em Leibniz, de uma trama conceitual distinta daquela que se costuma associar ao lugar atribuído a este filósofo na história que contamos da filosofiamoderna. A conclusão a que se chega aponta como a recuperação desse outro Leibniz, com diferentes problemas e soluções, pode, no sentido do materialismo histórico de Walter Benjamin, abrir tanto o passado quanto o presente da filosofia para a construção de uma nova história
